How did you decide what time of day to get married?

We are doing an Escape Vow Renewal ceremony. Disney has the following times to have a ceremony:

Escape Wedding ceremonies are available Monday through Friday at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:30 pm, and 5:00 pm.

We have chosen the location of Sea Breeze Point. However, I am having a difficult time choosing the time of day to have the ceremony. Did anyone else have this diffculty? How did you overcome it? :confused3

Thanks!

I wanted to have a dinner, and i felt that dinner at 9 was too late, so I picked 5pm for the ceremony so that dinner was at 7.

I wanted a 2:30pm ceremony so that we could go straight to an early dinner afterwards, but the only time available on my day was 12:00pm so that's what I got.

that's easy! our ceremony is at 10am, we want to go to the rockin roller coaster after our reception, which ends at 3, so i'll have just enough time to go back to the poly, get out of the poofy dress and onto mgm!!!

I picked 2.30 because I didn't want to have to get up to early on my wedding day, I want to enjoy the getting ready part as much as possible. And I also want to be in my wedding dress as long as possible which is why I turned down the 5 p.m. slot.

We are getting married at the WP so I wasn't really worried about the heat, if we was having an outside location I would have picked and earlier time.

We're going with 2:30 because we really wanted to have a desert party after our reception, and we didn't want to have a break in between the festivities and have everyone have to deal with meeting up again later. So by having it at 2:30, we'll still have plenty of time to have a great reception and then head over to the desert party.

Two Thirty so that we could have an early dinner and not feel rushed at all during the day. Also, we are getting married as sunset pointe and two thirty is the last slot for the day.

For me it was simply b/c I've always wanted an evening wedding and reception. We are getting married at 5pm followed by an outdoor reception. I've always dreamed of having a reception under the stars ;) Corny, I know! :) Haha

I really, really wanted the 5pm time slot because in February, the sun would be very low and on the verge of setting. DFTW's told me they typically don't have the weddings at 5pm b/c of the sun setting and it makes photograhy difficult :sad1: So, after talking to Randy and confirming that we would be okay for the ceremony but not pictures after, he offered to take all our formal pics before the wedding in a staged reveal. The traditionalist in me said no, and we went with the 2:30pm time slot. So now, well take all our pictures and the limo is going to make two trips to deliver everyone to Animal Kingdom Lodge for our dinner at Jiko at 5:30! So, I guess it all worked out.

I was trying to decide between the 12 pm and 2:30pm time slots. I ended up going with the 2:30 ceremony because I wanted to take my time getting ready. Right after the ceremony the guests will head to LSS for the reception, followed directly by the dessert party. All the events would flow into one another without a break. If I had chosen the noon ceremony there would be like a 2 or 3 hr break between the reception & dessert party.

I also chose the 2:30 slot so we would not have any breaks. The only prpblem I am looking at now is my wedding will be over by half 9 when illuminations end

What month is your wedding? Florida weather is not the greatest so we planned around that. In January it can be 70 degrees in the daytime and in the 30s or 40s at night, so we picked 2:30 so we'll have the warmest part of the day for outside pictures. The summer is the exact opposite, you gotta go with early morning or late evening to avoid the humidity. Also in the summertime it rains here for 15min or so every afternoon around 2ish.

Kristen14, our wedding is in early December 2008. How is the weather in Orlando? Thanks.

Umm... why is going on Rockin Rollercoaster so important on your wedding day? Just being curious.

I wanted 5:00 pm but in order to seat 11 for dinner at YSH we needed to have the ceremony at 3:00 pm at SBP in order to have a 5:30 pm dinner. It worked out well.

we did 2:30pm because lets face it I'm lazy and didn't want to get up too early. We also picked this time so we could have a flowing day. We have cocktails at 3:30 till 5pm then dinner around 5:30ish and the reception will end at midnight. We paid the extra for the extra hours.

In December you dont have to worry about the rain or humidity, but the temperature could be anywhere from really cold to somewhat warm.

For example, last year I was at a wedding in Orlando the last weekend of November and it was 70 at 3:00 for the ceremony, but went down to 37 during the reception. Everyone had to layer their outfits because it was so warm early on in the day. Basically its a crap shoot in the winter, one week can be warm enough to swim while the next may be in the 40s or 50s the entire time!

I completely agree. It's a crap shoot unfortunately. In December 2006, the night we got engaged we were out at MK in jeans and a light sweater. But in December 2005 around the same time I was out at MK in 3-4 layers b/c it was freezing. Right now it's still pretty warm here in Orlando but who knows. For your sake, I hope the weather is mild and pleasant :)

I too chose 2:30 so I could sleep until a normal time, not feel rushed, and have a continuous flow to the day. We'll do the cake cutting after the ceremony, then an hour later dinner at Narcoossee's and then if I'm really lucky with my phone skills, the Grand 1 for Wishes! :) :cloud9:

Ours was a simple decision...August 1st in Florida ???? 10 am was the earliest slot to avoid the heat as much as possible. I am NOT a morning person, but I made an exception for this one important day ! As a matter of fact, I knocked myself out (so to speak). I went to bed at 2:30 am and was up before Ana arrived at 4am to do my hair and makeup for our MK shoot before the wedding. If I was going to have to be up early and get dressed up, I was only doing it once ! :rotfl: It worked out fine and we survived. We even closed MGM with EMH afterwards !
