How did you choose your college?

you play football at South Florida? also *** why is South Florida in Tampa, I thought Tampa was in the North?

Im in Tampa right now and it is North compared to like Ft Lauderdale or Naples. Hey Doc2b you didnt like Holy Cross. I think there campus is beautiful and its such a great school (which i am sure you already know). And yes Worcester can take some getting use to. I live like five minutes from Holy Cross. However right now I am enjoying the Beautiful Florida Weather at the University of Tampa

i am in my third year at temple university and i chose it bc it was close to home, was in the city, and i wanted to go to a school that had a recognizable name

I finished my High School in Orlando and I decided to go to the University of Florida (UF). I did Early Decision and I got in! I decided to come here because of the great academics/environment/weather, plus the in-state tuition with a scholarship.

UF has one of the best Engineering Schools in the nation. It is also a Top University (according to US News, etc) and a member of the AAU (a group of ~68 universities with high academics and research, that includes the Ivies, Georgia Tech, etc).

Also, many Engineering recruiters come to UF to find interns, full-time prospects, etc. In fact, I will start my Disney Industrial Engineering Professional Internship this Summer! :cool1:

Top Companies such as Disney recruits Engineering people from UF, Georgia Tech, MIT, and Penn State.

So I think it was a great decision to come here. GO GATORS!

Nahhh, I no longer play football. For me that is a thing of the past. I had reconstructive surgery on my knee and so...life goes on...But Tampa is south of orlando

I was always torn between whether to go to Tulane or LSU. In the end, I decided that LSU had more to offer for a cheaper price. Plus, it isn't like it doesn't have any academic standing. People know of the diploma and respect it.

I'll be attending LSU for Computer Science in the fall so I guess I can consider myself a college student now. haha

no offense, but people know the diploma b/c they know the sport teams. but seriously, thats the only way to really get noticed unless your an ivy school.

Uuaww, that is not necessarily true. Ivy Leagues are more focused on Medicine, Business and Law.

I am an Engineering major and I chose UF because it is a great Engineering school! I have a proof: Siemens recruiters spend time in attending career fairs at seven universities (including UF). You can see that by visiting the "siemenscampus" website

Disney also does pretty much the same thing! They have had great experience with UF Gator Engineering students and alumni. I know my opinion is biased but it is true... If you don't believe my words, please ask other companies (important ones) about UF Engineering students.

Therefore, I can say that an employer knows the diploma by the University's reputation and academics.

:grouphug: :grouphug: did you all know that the term Ivy League is used because The Ivy League is the conference of the athletic teams from those schools? Therefore I guess the Ivy League schools got their start because of their athletics as well as academics. UF, FSU, LSU, USC, UCLA, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc.. It's just a fact that these excellent schools at one time or another had phenominal athletic programs. There is nothing wrong with that, gives one the ability to balance beer drinking with academics. Because of this only the strong will survive. By the way, whether engineering, sales, or construction, it is the person not the college that makes the career. Look at Michael Eisner(CEO of Disney)...he went to denison university...what the heck is that, where the heck is that? I that even a school? But I can tell you one thing, he's one of the most well respected men in entertainment history. But then again I don't think anyone really cares where he went to school. SO the point is moot  :cool1:

I go to LSU!!! If I had to choose between Tulane or here, I'd pick LSU. Tulane is a good school but I don't think it is worth the extra tuition...but I am willing to admit that we have a reputation for being a big party school focused on football (and sometimes basketball or baseball if we are doing well, haha)... and not so much focused on academics, and I'd pretty much say that that is true sadly...
