How did you and the DIS "meet"?

DH actually "met" the DIS first. He found the DIS while we were planning our WDW honeymoon back in 2000. I actually made fun of him for "talking to the creepy internet people" at first! Then I started reading it more and more along with him, then on my own, then...well...now I'm on here way too much! And I love every minute of it. ::yes::

From a search on Disney Cruises. So, I started out on the Cruise Board. When I first saw the Community Board, I thought it was a wacky and scary place:crazy:

I found the DIS in 1998 -- I was home on maternity leave with my youngest son, and was planning his first trip to WDW that summer. By the time summer 1999 had rolled around and we took our first trip, I was already hooked. I was just thinking as I was out today how long I have known some of the people here. We've watched each other's kids grow up, albeit via cyberspace.

I used to frequent the Rec Arts Disney Parks newsgroup. I remember wishing there was a discussion board instead. Then, as I recall, Pete came on RADP and said he was starting a Disney discussion board. I posted on the very first day!

Well way back in 1992, I believe, I found the Disney Board on Prodigy, then when that went caput we kind of moved to Delphi, from there I found a newsgroup(can't remember name, 4 letters, maybe with rad in them?) through that I heard of the Dis. I think I registered way before the date on my Dis user panel, but at some point the original info was lost?

Total accident. I was looking on Yahoo or something for info on Disney resorts and voila! Here I am! :wave2:

looking for cruise info and stumbled to the rest of the site. this is my first board and I learned lots here:sunny:

I was looking for information on DVC and did a search on the web. This was the first website I opened and I haven't left! I've actually told quite a few people about this place - although I didn't "refer" them - and they post here too. Annmarie

Searching around for information on our first Disney trip, sometime in late 1998, I found another board and stuck around there for a good while. Then someone posted referencing "The Dis" and I came on over to check it out. I read far more than I post, but I post in fits and starts, sometimes tons, more times very little. I guess I'm a bipolar DISer!

I'm relatively new to the boards. I found out about it thru D-Visa rep when I asked some info about charging my birthday cruise :bday: :cake: and when the charges I had already made expired. She told me about Disboards.com in July 2004 :chat: and I joined up.:cloud9: Best thing I ever did!:jumping1: :jumping1:

I was looking for info on Disney weddings/VR's back in March of '03. First I found the wedding board, then I noticed peoples colorfl tags, and some of them were mentioning the Tag Fairy. i asked how they got those tags, and they told me how, and that the Tag Fairy spends most time at the Communtiy Board....so I now spend most of my DIS time here, cause it's a friendly place and a good spot to unwind!

My story is not really exciting...

I did a search for Disney World forums because I wanted to ask a question about what events WDW had planned for the Fourth of July.

I did post my question, got lots of help from some very nice people, and decided to stick around!

Searching the Net in early '99, after I moved a family WDW trip from late '98 to '99, looking for info on WDW. I found the DIS, among other sites, always just reviewing the info section on wdwinfo. I used to see the link on it to the 'Discussion Boards' and thought who the heck would discuss anything on the Net, much less Disney stuff. One day, after running out of stuff to read, I clicked, carefully, with trepidation, on the Discussion Board link.

A long time later, still here, have made many lasting friendships.

We went to Disney World on a whim in 99 and paid rack rates at the Poly. We felt so "special " when they upgraded us from garden view to a MK view that we went back the next year. I was surfing the net for discounts and ended up here from the link on another site. I usually just lurk and look for info.

I booked a DCL cruise when they first started in 1998 and was looking for reviews (which were far from flattering back then, lol). And that's how I found the DIS 6 years ago. It has changed a wee bit since then.

It was just before our first trip in 1999. I lurked for ages and ages before finally joining.

I found it by searching through a huge webpage that was just for Disney links, and told my family about it. It wasn't this version of the boards, it was the old version. I re-registered when I saw the new boards were up in 1999.

I had that links page bookmarked on my old computer; the site's probably gone now. That's also how I found Deb's Unofficial site. This was before the age of Google. :)

I guess I am way in the minority because I didn't land here after a search!

I did find the Tikiman site while searching for info on the Poly that year. Once Mary Lou sent me here, I did not lurk for long before signing on. One of the best things I ever did!
