How did you and the DIS "meet"?

My story is kind of neat. We were at a couples shower about a month before our 2002 trip. We knew hardly anyone there, but were introduced to the "cousins in law" of the groom, Mario and Mary Lou. I noticed Mario's patriotic Mickey pin and told him we were WDW fans too. He told me the pin was given to DVC owners and that began a lengthy conversation among the four of us about our love for WDW.

Mary Lou said "You need to check out the DIS." She told me how much wonderful info was there and how great the people were. True to her word (as most WDW lovers are), she emailed me a link and the rest is history.

We keep in touch with Mario and Mary Lou and even invited them to our Halloween party last year. They are big kids, just like us, and I will never be able to thank them enough for introducing me to the DIS.

Thanks Jerseymouse!

So what's your story?

I was searching for a place to go on a over due family vacation. WDW was just one of the places I was looking at. When I found this place, they convinced me it was the ONLY place to go. :hyper: I never left the dis. lol

last january i guess, my friend and i decided to go to disney after the semester was over....i was talking to someone and they suggested i come here to get info....i was figuring i would just come and leave....but nope :)

When we decided to join DVC I did a search for info on DVC......that led me to the Dis:D

Just almost 6 years ago I stumbled on it while searching for stuff for our family trip to WDW. It was one of the many links I found way back, but it was one of the few places I continually went to until our trip occured in '99. By the time I got back, I was hooked and never was able to stay away :)

Long ago in a galaxy far, far away.......

It seems like forever when I first did a search on WDW help and came up with this sight. I think back then there were only 2 boards.:earseek:

I got you beat by 2 months! How about all these young whipper-snappers on these boards today:wave:

My son's pediatrician has a link to this site on his website. He's on a local news channel once a week and always has on a Disney shirt.

Like Florida Minnie, I was searching for Disney Cruise info...

I lurked for a long time before I registered, but I guess I couldn't stay quiet forever!
:teeth:

My DH, DD, and I were planning a trip to Las Vegas, and were thinking of taking a road trip to California. While looking up info. my husband and I just happened to bring up the topic of possibly going to Disneyland. As soon as he said that, I was on my computer finding for information and came upon DIS.

I was searching for info on CSR and I ended up here. I think it was either Buzz2001 or Epcotfan's website that had the link on it. So even though I wasn't too crazy for CSR I am very thankful to Buzz2001/Epcotfan for linking me to the DIS. I can't believe that I've been DISing for over a year already. That's a lot of MeanLaureen's useless polls (which are my favorite).

I was looking for info and pictures of WDW for our first trip. I went to Intercot first, then wdisneyw then somewhere along the way I saw in a mention of the DISboards in one of the forums.

I made my way here, at the beginning only on the theme park boards, then started lurking around the CB, now I'm addicted to the CB. But I still venture out to the other boards every now and then.

I was reading an internet recipe board and one poster mentioned that she was going to WDW and wanted restaurant recommendations. Someone posted the link to the Dis. We were about 70 days out from our WDW trip, so just in time to find out about Cindy's breakfast and dh and I got up early and made the ressies and actually got through! I think it says May 2001 as date registered, we went to WDW July 2001 (and few time before and since, of course). :D

Researching for our WDW trip in 2000. I had a hateful job, and I spent way too much time on the computer "escaping." Got a lot of great information and lurked for a number of years, but then I started posting more and got hooked. Luckily I don't have the same job, but the downside is now having less time to spend on the web.

Luckily we are planning a trip for Dec., so I can justify my time spent on the boards!

Way back in 2001, I was just looking up a bunch of Disney sites, to get myself excited for our August trip. I happened to come across this site and I had fun reading all the different topics. After a few weeks I decided to join and talk with all the Disney freaks, because I don't have any in my family!

Last fall after we decided we needed a trip to a warmer climate to escape all the bad stuff that was going on, and had decided to go to Sea World and Universal, I got on the net to get some info. I had been to SW before but never to Universal. One of the links that popped up brought me here, and I stuck around even after the trip. Now I'm working on the planning for next April's trip, our first as DVC members.

A pretty boring story from me, I found the website in an article in Redbook magazine in January of 2000, just weeks before one of my visits to see the mouse. Once I visited I was hooked and the rest as they say is history.
