How did a trip that start out so well end so bad??? Updated 8/17 post 173

I hate to say it, but they sound like perfectly horrid people. After that, I bite my tongue and say no more.

Please, please, please, for me... :thumbsup2

Don't EVER let them go to Disney with you again!!! That is a lot of money to spend to be miserable. And it is your happy place.

Yuck!!! to your in-laws. I would NEVER go on any kind of vacation with them again. If your DH wants to I would suggest he go by himself...

Protect your DIS!

First, let me say that I have been enjoying your trip report.

Second, I have 2 DS. So one day I will be a MiL. Starting today, I will pray every single day that I am a good MiL. My MiL basically ignores my boys, which I guess is a blessing in disguise! She would never, ever go to Disney with us.

Looking forward to the remainder of your report!

WTH is his problem!?!?!? SHE'S 7!!!!! OMG. You are a far better woman than me. And can you remind me... did you pay for your dining or did you get it for free? Just because they are cheap shouldn't mean that you should GIVE them things that are meant for YOUR family that you worked hard to provide for your children.

And timeout is given anywhere that the bahavior requires it. My daughter has had timeout at swim lessons, church, at a restaurant. If you wait until later, then they have NO idea why they are in trouble and if you just "ignore" it they will do it again! You are a good mom!

I wish I could see pictures, but I am at work and they have them blocked. But I played dressup until I was in middle school... and I LOVED to try on prom dresses all throughout middle and high school. Dress up is WHAT girls do!!!!

We were lucky enough to exchange into BW thru RCI so we paid for the dining plan with cash. Thanks for the vote of confidence. It is good to hear.

So, really... they expected YOU to PAY for their daughter's meal??? Because, if you had had free dining, I might allow a pass, since they'd be thinking how "lucky" you are to have the free dining. BUT YOU PAID FOR IT!!!! IT'S NOT FREE, JUST PRE-PAID FOOD!!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?!! Grr....

oh holy heckles....

those in-laws of yours are something else. I dont know how you have managed to remain as accomodating to them as you have. The blubbering MiL and the playing favorites FiL...they would never be invited to the grocery store with me after all this. I think I would have gone OFF on BiL for being so damned sneaky and the SiL to encourage the fit throwing to gain their ways...
you can tell it's 'all about them'...those are exactly the ones who kill the magic! For EVERYONE!! :headache:

PLEASE just tell us after all of this that karma kicks their behinds!

Holy cow! Just so you know, in case it's not totally clear: Your in-laws are pretty awful, especially the SIL! Your daughter looked adorable and she is certainly not too old to dress up. What a mean thing to say to a little girl and her mother.

Glad to see you're going on another trip.

Oh my... I just noticed that we will be at WDW close to the same time! You are leaving as I'm getting settled in! Did I know that before?? :confused3 I'll have to get on that PTR...

WOW oh WOW! We must have the same in-(out) laws. Mine pretty much ignored my family, including their so for the first 26 years we were married,That is until FIL had a stroke and all of a sudden they needed us. Don't worry they will come to regret their actions one day when your beautiful kids are older and want nothing to do with them Another one who did an in law trip to DW and wil not ever take them on another trip anywhere. Anywho aside from the out laws it's a great trip and you DD looked beautiful in her outfit. Love the sassy look. You go girl.

Ok, this post was an emotional roller coaster for me! First, my blood was boiling for you. I mean, these people sound terrible! But then, I had tears in my eyes when your SIL said that about DD. What a B^%$#! Ok, sorry. That is just aweful. Those are some awesome qualities she's passing down to her DD. And yes, your DD looked beautiful! Then I laughed at how you cropped out DNi. LMAO! I just can't imagine having to deal with people like this. You DEFINITELY deserve that trip back in Dec!!!!!

I am still new at the whole "boards" thing and this is the first "Trip Report" I have read. I do have to say I really hope all the other ones are this good...this has been like a great Internet soap opera. I know most of you are saying for her no never go with them again, but I got so say I would really look forward to reading THAT trip report. Even though I have a feeling we would probably read about it on a news blog first somewhere....I can read the headlines now..."Woman goes crazy at Disney....pushes in-laws in front of monorail!":dance3::banana: Love the trip resort...popcorn::

WOW! You are a much better person than I am..I think I would have gone crazy on FIL and the B&SIL after that day.

Your daughter looks simply adorable in her Aurora dress...just like a mini-princess should!

As for the getting into HS, I really really wish some CM's would just not give into people like that. Call a manager, do something, but the giving in just continues to encourage the behavior.

Sorry it was such a rotten day for you, but your really seemed to hold your composure much better than I think I ever could.

Thanks! You can just imagine how much it broke my heart. SO looking forward to taking my little princess to the tea. Thanks for all the tips you provided me in your TR's. Hope we can meet up in December.

OMG!!! You made me laugh. I read this was your first trip report and thought, "oh that poor person". But...then I read you actually liked mine so I'm glad. Guess my December one will be boring since it is just my immediate family. That's okay...I think I need boring after this. I love the headlines if we went again. Do you think it's bad that I can totally see myself doing that? :lmao:

I was the same way when they got in to HS. I guess I should be glad that they got sprinkled with pixie dust but I'm not. I lost A LOT of respect for them after this.

Okay...so I don't have time to do a full fledged update plus I don't want to make my headache worse. Just wanted to start with one tidbit.

When we met them at Epcot so I could spread the magic with my GAD fastpasses (not sure if I am nice or crazy) my DSiL tells me they don't really need fast passes because she got a note from her mother's friend, who is a doctor, that she has a disability so she can't stand in line. She heard you can bring that to them and they will give you a special pass so you don't have to stand in line. She said her mother did that when they went during February break and they saved so much time by not standing in line. Mind you, neither of these people need the pass in any way. They simply didn't want to wait in the line. :confused3

My DD said that sounded good to her and she doesn't like waiting in lines. Well...People...that did it...I snapped. :scared1:

I very loudly said to my DD so EVERYONE could hear that how dishonest that is. You should watch what you wish for because God can make it come true. I also said she should Thank God for the ability to wait in line and pray for those people that could not. That it takes a SICK person to make up disabilities so they don't have to wait in line when they really can.

Needless to say...she did not pursue the GAC and, instead, used our GAD fastpasses. :headache:

Good for you for speaking up! That is just insane. :sad2:

Oh heck no. That would have been teh end. I would have walked away and just been done with the lot of them. Seeing as I have a disabled brother this kind of crap BURNS ME UP. You have no idea what people with ACTUAL disablities go through, you just see the few perks that they get. Ever stop to think that perk might be the only EASY thing that person gets?? Sorry... my BP is boiling now. I know its not you, but I would have punched her.

ccgirl,
OMG I would have said the exact same thing. Our son is blessed with Aspergers and I hate even getting him a GAC card because people always glared at us and make comments since he looks like every other 9 year old boy. Except when he gets boxed in by people and they intrude into his personal space which causes him extreme distress and he will have a huge melt down and of course people always get out of the way then but he is all embarrassed at that point and just wants to go back to the hotel room where he can "hide" (this happened all the time on his first trip when he was 6) so we have gotten him a GAC card since so that he can BE the wonderful little boy he is and enjoy his favorite place on earth and the idea that someone fakes a disability just to cut in line makes me see red.

Thank you for standing up for all of those who need/who children need the GAC card and for teaching your daughter respect of others she is so lucky she has your example to follow rather then your SILs.

I just came across your trip report and WOW. First I will say I don't understand how some people (like your in-laws) are blessed with amazing grandchildren and then are so ungrateful, rude and hurtful. Personally, my MIL was only my MIL at my wedding - that was the last time I saw her. She died right after our honeymoon. She was WONDERFUL grandmother to her other grandkids, and my husband and I will forever be crushed that we never had her for our children. FIL died when my oldest was 4 - equally wonderful. My own beloved mom, who was soulmates with my two oldest, died when they were 5 and 3. I was seven months pregnant with my third. Utterly devasating. I now have my dad, who loves my kids and is great when he is with them, but it is too busy running around with his latest girlfriend in his brand new Corvette and shacking up at my parents' vacation home (at 78 years old) to bother a lot with them. My kids are now 9, 7 and 3...

Not to make this about me...just makes me SOOOOO angry to read about grandparents like your MIL/FIL. My eyes literally filled with tears when you said your FIL has called your daughter chubby and compares her to your niece, etc. And mortified about what he said about her in the dress. Your MIL's constant crocodile tears...could you BE more manipulative and self-involved?

It also hurts me that they don't seem to consider you. What does DH think of all this? Has he ever spoken up in the midst of all this? I'm not going after him, don't take offense - I just hope that you aren't the only one dealing with all of it directly - well, at least when your politeness wears off and you snap, that is...

I think the comfort you can take out of this is that you CLEARLY put your kids first, even sacrificing your own sanity for this vacation - and it really seems they had a magical time as a result. :cheer2: You shielded them a lot more than you probably think you did. I'm just sorry you didn't have the wonderful time you deserved! :sad1:
