Ok so i just recently had my in person planning session and got all my ideas out there but i feel like i was very general. I kinda gave the color pattern the flower ideas (i am totally trusting the florist) a basic idea of what i want for centerpieces but i dont know if that's enough. I felt it was at the time but i dont know... how detailed must we be??? I am so not detail oriented so I am trusting Disney for a lot of stuff i guess .... how detailed were you? how specific?? help

I plan on being very detailed, I'll google and get some images of flower arrangements I like and so on.

I created an inspiration picture grid thingy and I emailed it to my planner after our planning session...she then forwarded it on to the florist..very very detailed...

I think it depends. If you want it a certain way, than you should spell it out for them. If you're okay with them taking your inspiration and running with it, then you can just give a few general ideas.

I didn't use Disney for floral but I just told my florist I wanted a mix of flowers in shades of purple and ivory and white and showed him a few inspiration pics of what I was thinking and he completely blew me away with what he came up with. It was so much more beautiful than any of the pictures or anything I could have imagined. They way I thought of it, I just wanted it to be beautiful, I didn't care what type of flowers he used or anything like that. He's the professional so I figured he would know best which flowers to use.

Some brides are very into every little detail, others not so much. I don't think there is a right or wrong way. The very detail oriented brides would be disappointed if things aren't the way they imagine, so the more direction they can give the better. For other brides it might be stressful to dig through tons of pictures and put together slide shows, you just need to do what's right for you ;).

I think it depends on your style, I had swatches, paint chips, samples, print outs and clippings and at the same time I was very open about what kind of flowers I wanted to make sure they were budget friendly and available for my season. All I asked was to have them arranged in an specific way and on specific hues and not to have any budget busting flowers like peonies, orchids, lilies of the valley since they really don't do much for me. :confused3

My floral person was wonderful, she got it all right away. I am keeping a very open mind about my floral just in case I need to cut back, the only thing I was extremely particular about in the end was how my bouquet was to be arranged and I had a much better idea of what I wanted after the meeting, so I went home, put an inspiration board together with more images I had found and sent it right out to my floral person.

Sometimes keeping it simple can be the better way to go, you don't get too hung up on details and whether the roses were really the pink shade you wanted or as open or closed as you had envisioned or one thing or another, but if you are a die hard planner and need to have the dots over all your i's and make sure you get what you were hoping for you will need more documentation to make sure you get your vision across to your team.

Well those colors are going to look fabulous! ;) I definitely think it's good to give them room to be creative.

There are lots of pics in my PJ, there's a link in my signature, I haven't gotten to the wedding day in the TR yet but there's a link with the slideshow and you can see how it all came together. :goodvibes

I am a huge believer in letting the professionals run with your ideas. They do this all the time - I feel like you get someone's best work out of them if you just give them an idea and let them be creative. I did this with both my flowers and my cake and they came out wonderfully - way better then if I had given them all the info! I brought color swatches to the planning session and they stayed in my purse - lol...I couldn't be bothered to get them out because I was sure that Laura got what I wanted.

I totally agree! This was my attitude with all of my wedding planning and I am so glad I went that route!

I gave a little bit of direction for floral with a few inspiration photos for color/style. I wanted peonies but they weren't in season so Elizabeth helped me find some ideas of flowers that were similar to what I had in my inspiration photos. I was so happy with what she came up with and my bouquet was far better than I could have imagined. But, I wasn't overly obsessive beforehand and that was part of why I picked a destination wedding in the first place so it probably depends most of all how clearly you have visualized certain aspects of your wedding. But from experience, I would say, if you have general ideas but aren't too concerned with the details, let Disney run with it. They do it all the time and they do an AMAZING job! :thumbsup2

I think my experience might be a little different. I was very specific with most things- I wanted roses and callas of a very specific shade of coral pink in my bouquet, a recreated miniature of my mom's wedding bouquet for her, lion king pink coral carnation balls for my pomanders/kissing balls for aisle decor/centerpieces etc. but I didn't know what I wanted for an altar arrangement just that I wanted two pieces and I wanted it to go on our sweetheart table and match our decor. That piece ended up being MY FAVORITE one and the centerpieces ended up being the one thing that looked different than I expected (not bad, just not what I envisioned). So, I would say that they are experts and if you leave it up to them you might be pleasantly surprised, they really do GREAT work, but if you have your heart set on something, be super clear about it, down to color, size, shape, placement, etc. It is funny to me that the one thing I left up to chance was just one of my most favorite things in my decor!

I went with DD for PS in Aug. and she was the same way. Just let them see a few floral pics she liked and is letting the florist do the magic. Hope it works for her, she just rec'd her floral estimate. :scared1:
