How detailed is your itinerary?

I think that anyone of us who spends time reading and searching the DIS is at least a semi-planner, or you'd have never found this site in the first place. I happen to be list maker, mega planner, commando type! Having a game plan for each day helps us enjoy more of the vacation time. My cousins have been DVC owners for many many years and they think they are WDW experts simply because they vacation at OKW every single year, sometimes twice a year. They have never read a guide book or done any sort of research. But, they spend a LOT of time complaining about long lines and not enough time to see everything. They didn't know there was a boat from DD to POR, they didn't know about Illuminations cruises, or about the hidden walkways in AK, or the many many tours offered at all the parks, etc. You have to read the site boards, study WDW tour books, and do your own homework to get the most out of a trip to WDW. Planning IS half the fun, and planning your itinerary is time well spent that will result in the best vacation possible.

I too spend alot of time planning, but more to have knowledge of all the possibilities. I usually do try to plan what day to go where. I try to go to a given park the day after it has EE. We try to get there right at park opening and do the major rides when the crowds are low and then go from there. My preplanning is more to be able to decide alternatives when unexpected things happen, to know what is close by when rides are closed or lines are longer than expected.
