My DH asked me a question I didn't know the answer to today. I thought of all of you - someone here must know the answer! (BTW, my DH said I must not be a true Disney fan if I can't answer this question!).

So, does anyone know how deep Bay Lake is? (I think that's the name - the lake in front of MK and the monorail resorts).

Thanks so much! :flower:

Bay Lake is a body of water about a mile (1500 m) across and a depth of 12 feet, located in Orange County, Florida in the north end of the Walt Disney World property at about 28°24′58″ N 81°34′04″ W, in the Disney-controlled city of Bay Lake, Florida and immediately to the east of the Magic Kingdom.

This is the actual body of water in front of the Magic Kingdom

The Seven Seas Lagoon is the lake in front of the Magic Kingdom Park, at Walt Disney World, Florida. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney's Polynesian Resort also have beaches on the Seven Seas Lagoon. The lake reaches a depth of only 14 feet.

Guests of the Magic Kingdom cross the lagoon by either monorail or steamboat from the parking lot.

Fishing was not allowed in the Lagoon until the mid-1990s, some 25 years after Walt Disney World's opening, when guests at Disney hotels were permitted to fish. The plan was always there though, and fish were put in the lagoon in 1973 to breed.

If I am not mistaken, there is a wave machane in the bottom of the lake that is not used because it caused too much of the sand to leave the beach.

Thank you so much for this answer. I'm not sure why I thought it was named Bay Lake! I'll be sure to pass the answer on to my DH - the part about fishing is pretty interesting - I'm sure some of those fish are quite large by now if they put them in in 1973 and didn't allow fishing until the 1990's.

Thanks again! :flower:
