How Crowded During Spring Vacation?

We've been to Universal one time--in mid August 2001. It was crowded, but it was the week that a lot of local schools started so the parks had started to thin a little according to the employees that we talked with. We stayed onsite so we had the magic room keys so we didn't have any long lines.

I was wondering how crowded spring is since people have different weeks off for spring vacation. Is it as busy as Christmas or July 4th weeks probably are or more like mid-late August?

Also, how is April weather as far as temperature and precipitation?

How crowded spring is really depends on when Easter falls. Last year, Easter and spring break for most colleges (and I know local schools as well) were both in March, so there were big, BIG crowds as there was an overlap. I'm assuming you must be (as we were at one time) in an area that has an April vacation. The problem with the April vacation this year is that it coincides with Easter, I'm sure. Easter is April 20th, so I would expect the Easter crowds to be pretty heavy what with all the Northeast travellers that have their vacations then. What you won't have is the additional college and local spring breakers...so crowds will be heavy, more than you had in Aug. probably, and the closer to Easter you're coming, the worse they'll be. You didn't say when exactly you were coming though.

It's tricky to call since Easter changes each year.

The crowds last year were really bad at IOA 145 minutes for Spider-Man that's crazy.

It's definitely tricky to predict with Easter moving all the time!

I know when I used to vacation in Orlando during April, I really hated it when Easter was right at the beginning or the end of our school vacation!!!


I was hoping it didn't sound too confusing, my crystal ball is foggy at best...

Our spring break always connects to Easter. Either the kids get Good Friday off and the whole next week or they get the week before Easter through "Easter Monday". We're waiting for our youngest to be 42" tall so we, as a family, can go on more rides together. Therefore, we wouldn't be going this spring, even though I REALLY want to. Maybe we'll try another August vacation since the spring is real busy. I assume that Christmas week is even busier? Decisions, decisions!

Christmas week IS even busier...

When I lived in MA, we always came at the end of August every year (mid-end) and we found it to be relatively uncrowded, and you never had to worry about whether it would be warm enough to go on water rides or spend time at the pool. I know it's hot, but they give you lots of opportunities to cool off!

Keep measuring, it's amazing how fast they grow!!!
