I was very competitive in my classes in HS - no one was going to type faster or more accurately than I; no one was going to take shorthand dictation faster than I nor transcribe it as accurately or as quickly as I - and no one did. This competitiveness won me some pretty highly-desired work assignments (Spain, England, Germany) and several thousand dollars exceptional performance awards.
I became far more laid back when I retired. The only events in which I compete now are the individual naps and overall laziness with the cat, and he's a formidable opponent. I rarely win these events, but I come a close second.
