How come my National is going up...

and everybody else's is going down? I tried so many codes and they keep climbing. Does anybody else have codes that will work for july 17-22?

The price will go up if most of the cars are booked for those dates. They will only lower them if they have many cars left.

I am renting from National August 3-19. When I first booked a full-size car my rate with codes and coupons was $525. I tried again two weeks later and got it down to $498. Tried again about a month ago and got $445. Since then, the rates have been going up and if I booked right now I would be paying $497.
I am hoping that once they release the codes for August, I will be able to bring the cost down some more. I have never paid more than $400 to rent a car for that time period and we go every year.

We are renting from them July 15-24 and our rates haven't lowered either! Thank goodness I booked months ago!

I am sooooooo glad I booked (National) many months ago. I have July 18-26th (9 days) $152 for a full size car. I watch every day for rates to drop but no luck with that. They only get higher or stay the same

I'm also glad I booked my rates back at the beginning of the year. The rates will go up and down constantly. When they drop, book 'em, you can always modify them and keep pretty much the same rate if your dates change, especially if they are higher. While they are high for the summer, all you can do is watch both the budget and transportation boards of disboards, because if they drop, someone will post! I check everyday. I booked a full size for September, but now need a minivan. I cannot modify the size of the car unfortunately, so I'm watching for a good minivan price to come up. Luckily for me I have 2 free days to apply to the price from my EA awards, so will take a huge chunk of money off. I also have a full size for July 20-25 (6 days) and my total is $101, so am happy I booked that one a long time ago. Good luck, and don't give up!

I'm going the same time you are 7/17-25. It looks like the current specials run out at the end of the month, so hopefully the July specials will lower our rates. I was considering switching to Thrifty as they had a lower rate on an intermediate, but I really need something that seats six for part of my trip, there's no getting around it, so I have a Premium car booked for the same price as intermediate at National. If you don't mind using the counter or shuttle to get to Thrifty, you could try looking at them instead. They had an intermediate for 9 days for $164 total, compared to National's $239...
