How come Boardwalk is such a low point value?

I've just been having a look around at point charts (hoping to be a member soon), and for the time we're looking at, a week at OKW and a week at BW studio is the same. Given its location, I would have expected BW to be an awful lot more. Any reason why it's not, or am I missing something?

Disney error when they first set the point requirements. DVC way back when was a small, not many bought, thing that was not thought of much. Since they can't raise the point requirement without lowering it somewhere else, there is little that they can do.

Likely the better question to me is why are others so much. Ultimately it is what it is but the answer is basically they figured out they could charge more so they did, it was in effect, a way to increase prices.

The low points are for the standard view rooms. Only 20% of the rooms. They face the driveway and parking lots. They are also right next to the luggage loading area, which can be noisey. But overall, you pretty much have to use the 11 month window to get the standard view rooms most of the time. They are a great value and one of the reasons we own here, along with BLT to get the standard view rooms.

I don't find the clown pool creepy, as much as I do find it unbelievably tacky. The whole pool area there is tacky to me though.

Have you ever been to the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, Atlantic City or Wildwood NJ? "Tacky" is their middle name! The Boardwalk at Disney World was patterned after those tacky, wacky Atlantic seaside resorts of days gone by. The creepy clown slide fits right in.

I say go ahead & spread the word as far and wide as you can about the unbelievably tacky and VERY CREEPY clown pool. The more people it freaks out, the less difficult it will be to get a room there!

IMO, the standard view villas at the BWV are the best bargain on site!

lol yes it is SOO creepy especially at Halloween time so to prevent others from being scared I'm willing to take one for the team and stay there every year for F&W

I don't know it's that restrictive but it is difficult. I was able to piece together 7 nights for the week before xmas 2016 in standard a view studio.

Wow! Maybe it's just me, LOL! It's on my DVC bucket-list though!

Dean is a very knowledgeable & experienced user of DVC (and other timeshare systems). His experiences are by no means reflective of most of the rest of us.

It is certainly possible to book a BWV standard view (and most every other DVC booking category) outside of the 11 month window. However, it is very far from probable during the "DVC busy season". The take-way is that those who want to book standard view (or other very limited categories) on a regular basis are advised to own at that resort and book when the 11 month window opens.
