How close to trip can you switch over to DISavers?

One thing that concerns me is that I tend to make many changes to my ressies before I am content. I think I just enjoy driving myself crazy. I would end up paying a fortune in $15 change fees. I usually get everything in order a few weeks before a trip. Can I switch over my ressies to DISavers at the last minute to get the benefits of the rebates. Also, do the original ressies transfer over or do you have to make a whole new ressie and chance missing out on using a previously booked code?

So far, it sounds too good to be true. The more I save the more I can go to WDW.

Good one. Why has it not been answered?

Ifr you book ressies individually and determine that it would pay to get this membership, how does that work out?
When is "too late" to join?
Do you retain your previous reservation or have to start it all over?

Sorry, I must have missed this one :)

You have to keep in mind that DISavers wants to be able to match or beat your price. So, if you have a reservation that is made for let's say, 'Fall Magic' and the Fall Magic promotion is for reservations booked between May and August for a trip in October. If you submit your information to DISavers in September when Fall Magic is no longer available, they may not be able to match or beat your price keep the same 'package'. However, there may be other promotions you qualify for and f they can't match or beat the estimate you submit, they will not book it without your approval.

Also, you will NOT retain your original reservation and DISavers will need to re-book it. But they will only do this if they can match or beat your current reservation and the Client will be involved every step of the way.

I am sure there will be a time when you will not be able to transfer over to DISavers (for example, 3 days before departure) but I am not sure what that cut-off is. I will ask for you :)

Hi Gillian,

The only difference is that you will receive the commission in the form of a rebate. :)

The cutoff time for transferring a reservation over to Dreams is prior to the final balance being paid for a package and 14 days for a room only reservation. I am not sure but will check with Pete for the details of DISavers to see if the same policy applies.

Thanks for being so diligent and ensuring it got answered Wanda. :)

Here is the official transfer policy:

If a reservation is made directly through Disney, and NOT with another travel agency, it can be transferred to DISavers under the following conditions below.

The reservation cannot be an existing Dreams Unlimited Travel reservation. One booked with Dreams Unlimited Travel currently, cannot be cancelled and rebooked on DISavers. The disclaimer states that if you are a current client with us that you cannot book a trip on DISavers until these current trip dates have expired.

TRANSFERS

As a professional courtesy, we do not accept reservations booked with other Travel Agencies. Clients would have to cancel with them and rebook with us if they wish to.

Room Only booked with CRO
1. Must NOT be paid in full
2. Client cannot be traveling within 14 days.

Packages booked with WDTC (or a package booked at CRO w/ a 12 digit confirmation number)
1. Must NOT be paid in full
2. Client cannot be traveling within 14 days.

Here is the url to transfer reservations that meet the criteria listed above

Hope this helps.

Okay, this is a complicated question. If I have a room only ressie with DU (over a year away) and have joined DISavers, can I switch the reservation for these days using a new resort? Or would I have to make reservations with totally different dates after I cancel with DU. I made the reservation intending to switch once the codes for 2003 came out, to whatever looked better at the time. This was way before DISavers came along. Thanks.

Hi Samsma! Sorry for the delay in response. From the DISavers FAQ:

What if I already have a reservation?

If your reservation is booked with a travel agency (even Dreams Unlimited Travel), it is not possible to get your existing reservation covered under this program.

If you cancel a Dreams Unlimited reservation you would not be able to re-book the same exact dates through DISavers, unfortunately. If you have new and different dates then it is considered a new reservation.

Hope that helps!
