How clean is your house??

Our house is pretty much organized and clean. We do a daily straightening and quick clean (and Roomba runs) and then Sundays we do a more thorough cleaning. I can easily deal with someone else's house being dirty or a mess, but not my own.

Our house is about a 4/10 for a 225+ year old house!
You know, all ancient windows & doors, not streamlined, so big dust catchers!
Add to that a constant state of restoration--we still have a fireplace/chimney project all over the kitchen & the master, so bricks, drop cloths, buckets, plumb lines etc!

Although, from the exterior, our houses are quite similiar, this will never be mistaken for Martha Stewart's Turkey Hill house. Perhaps, I am the anti-Martha!
Okay,I am not exactly Martha Stewart-- no neat-as-a pin, tidy house, but no criminal record, yet!

Well, that is unless I can be arrested for harboring dust bunnies the size of small terriers, piles of clean clothes (I just say I'm sorting for Goodwill! ) & the occassional bat winging through~

Can't tolerate too much--like animal droppings, hair or over flowing or smelly garbage , so I've got a ways to go...wow! those things give me the skeeves!

I use shows like Wife Swap & Super Nanny for self-affirmation--see my housekeeping 'skills' are better than.., We never had those kinds of problems with DS!

Edited to add: am watching the west coast feed of Wife Swap: Yikes! compared to Mrs Messy, my house is a freakin' 8/10! I love animals, but I'm afraid I'm for letting everyone loose & let nature take it's course Survival of the fittest!
The excesses of the 'Princess' family I find disturbing, but at least you can step out of the shower without growing furry feet!

I'd rate my house an 8 out of 10.

I gagged when I saw that family having to remove animal hair from their feet when they got out of the shower. Yuck.

I have a fairly clean house and still can't keep up with the dog hair!

I would LOVE the orgnizer lady to come to my house!!!!!

That being said...my house needs work..but it isn't as bad as the Pirates. (ETA: No fleas and being in Florida, we have the bug guy who makes sure we don't get guest bug critters inside. ICK!!!!)

my house is always cluttered (I can't find a home for everything, so a lot of things find homes on the kitchen table)... But it's never filthy or disgusting. Most days I'd give my house a 6 or 7 out of ten. I'm sure my super-clean MIL would disagree with my assessment!!

BUT- I'm also not the type of person to clean my house every day. I do a whole house sweep once a week or so (maybe more, usually not). I'm sure once the baby arrives, I'll have a whole new set of housekeeping challenges.

I just did the Fall cleaning spree as my DH decided he wanted to have all of his work colleagues over for a picnic. I knew that most would comew, just to "nose" at the boss's house!!! So I cleaned the thing to withiin an inch of its life!!!!

Truthfully, I find that if I do a little each day, it stays OK. Kep it clutter free, and it will never look horrible.

Also I can't stand clutter. Everything has a place in my house. I'm kind of jealous of the lady on Wifeswap tonight with all her labels for everything!

My house looks like the organizer ladies house, minus all the bins.

No way could I have gone and stayed at the Good Ship Flea Bag. I'm surprised she lasted as long as she did before going to a hotel.

The rooms that matter (bathrooms and kitchen)are clean..and I make sure they stay that way no matter what cause...well, they just have to be. I still have a few boxes unpacked throughout the house and my DS leaves his crap in the living room, on the coffee table, everywhere. It drives me nuts so the place is always a little messy but not dirty.

Mrs. Fine in tonight's Wife Swap episode would actually admire me. I'm a neat freak and a germaphobe. I have a horror of someone showing up at my home unexpected and finding messiness or filth. Can't sleep with the thought of that!

Considering the random and quick life changes we've had to make(moving and job changes) our house isn't too bad. Mostly some clutter, not everything is unpacked(stored in ther garage), not everything has quite found it's home yet. If we were having guests over, it would be quick fixes and vaccuming, etc.
