How clean is your house??

My house is so clean you could eat off the floor. Do I like it this way. Yes. What price do I pay for this. A crazy wife. LOL.

My wife has always been like this and I learned to live with it. Here are the good points and the bad points.

The good points are it is less stressful living without clutter or mess.

The bad points are sometimes it is nice to be more relaxed.

Also my mom and sister are the opposites (kind of messy) and they are intimidated to have my wife come to their houses. My wife dosen't judge other houses, she just likes hers to be clean.

Being I came from a messy house, it was hard to me to get used to being on the total opposite side of the spectrum.

I use shows like Wife Swap & Super Nanny for self-affirmation--see my housekeeping 'skills' are better than.., We never had those kinds of problems with DS!

I totally agree with this! No matter how bad my mood, or how much I think I'm failing as a parent or being a bad housewife, I just turn on that show and it's an instant pick me up!

BTW - For one of the pp's that mentioned it - the Roomba rules. It's the best lazy way to clean!!! (Aside from teh cleaning ladies every other Friday!) :thumbsup2

Also, if you think that "label ladies" like Mrs. Fine don't exist, you haven't met my sister in law. Talk about carbon copy!!

My biggest problem is that I'm a bit of a shopaholic and I have trouble finding homes for things.

I'm very attached to my stuff and so is my husband and my kids. In fact, they are worse than me.

Makes organizing challenging.

I don't mind 'cleaning' though.

My wife married an organized clean freak and my dad was in the military - my mom kept an immaculate home. I married a gal who's mom is a pack rat and whose house is full of clutter and kept an untidy (but clean) home. So it was a big adjustment in the first years of marriage, but we've got our groove and I'd give our house a 9.5 on a scale of 10 for cleanliness and a 8 on a scale of 10 for clutter. :goodvibes

My house is always "company ready" :teeth:

That doesn't mean it's perfectly clean, it just means that if someone comes over unexpectadly, they may think it's perfectly clean. ;)

I dust and vaccuum about once a week
The bathrooms I clean once or twice a week, depending on if they need it.

Now that winter is coming, my house will be cleaner because we won't be outside so much. The summer is a tough season to clean house because I'm out in the pool :sunny:

I gagged when I saw that family having to remove animal hair from their feet when they got out of the shower. Yuck.
That was just too gross for me.

Our is an 8 out of 10 too.

On any given day in my house, there's usually toys in the kitchen and livingroom, no matter how many times I put things away. There's usually dust on the mantle, around the computer, and on top of the t.v. And there may be a few dishes on the counter that need to be loaded into the dishwasher.

But, there's no mold in the bathtub, no ring in the toilets, no food going bad in the refrigerator and your feet won't stick to the floor. :thumbsup2

I don't watch Wife Swap -- the people are just tooooo extreme.

"Clean" is such a relative term. :rolleyes1

I am a TERRIBLE housekeeper, and so is DH. But right now things are cleaner than usual! Our house usually resembles a crime scene, but we cleaned it thoroughly before we went to WDW last month.

This month we have had both bathroom floors replaced, the kitchen & foyer floors replaced, and today we are getting a new stove & dishwasher. We are still waiting for faucet fixtures, lights, and 2 ceiling fans. Keeping things tidy and making the bed every day is just about to kill me! I hope the work is done soon so we can go back to being slobs!

I'd give my house a 7 out of 10. It appears spotless, but if you look more closely you will see things I miss. I just don't have time to move everything and to vaccuum under everything and things like that. Plus, with two pets, there is no way our house would ever be a perfect 10.

My house is not spotless, but gets a good once-over once a week. If I have people over, i try to invite them on Saturday evenings, when the house is cleanest.

But, I would say it stays fairly picked up, and is almost always only an hour awya from company-ready.

Currently, my home is "not eat off the floor clean" but it is neat and mostly clean. Very respectable if we get drop ins. I'm happy with that. :thumbsup2

Right now I give my house a 8/10. I'm still in the process of cleaning because hubby comes home tomorrow from deployment!!!!!!! :cheer2:

:jumping1:

The place is really clean actually...very proud of DH for that....but our only kid is a moody cat who doesnt put his toys away

My house is an 7/10. I clean the bathroom almost every day, and wipe the counters and appliances each day. I have stainless and fingerprints make my spine crawl. I do the windows at least every two weeks. I vacuum several times a week, and wash the floors a lot. I have 4 cats, and 1 4 YO DGD who like to play at teh windows, so there are always nose and finger prints on them.

I think that if you look close, you will see what I miss, and that is okay. We have some clutter because my home is not large, and I am a pack rat. We have barn wood wainscotting and closet doors and cedar ceilings, so it is really hard to keep the dust off them.

My Mom was a clean freak and we were never allowed to really live in our house. My DH Mom is a slob, so he thinks the house is always spotless. I let my family live in the house, no one takes their shoes off when they arrive (unless they like their slippers better) and I clean what makes me nuts. I also don't care what anyone elses house is like.

Yes, you could eat off my floors!

It would be leftovers, however! :rolleyes1

I'd have to say our house has to be a 9/10... dh is retired and a neat freak.... if he wants to spend the day cleaning... have at it :thumbsup2 no pets and a very clean and neat 5 yr old :teeth: ....he makes his bed as soon as he climbs out of it... very rarely leaves for school w/toys on the floor... I'd say that's pretty good!

My house is also always pretty close to company ready. Things are tidy, open spaces are reasonably clean. I clean the basics, vacuum, dust, etc. about once a week. However, the windows have dog marks, there's usually a line of dust around my floorboards, dust on the ceiling fans, etc. A white gloved inspector couldn't come, but many of my friends comment that my "house is always clean".

I have friends who are actually "cleaner" than me, but their houses look messier because of piles of stuff.

Quite clean with a bit of clutter everywhere.

I clean the kitchen daily. Vacuum daily. Do floor scrubber on Pergo twice a week. Clean (scrub) bathrooms about once a week...do wipes on the counter and toilet every day or E/O day.

But, we have a small home with 5 people living in it. There is always a stack of paper here, toys there, shoes here, socks there. I used to be quite OCD with labeled Tupperware in the cupboards, a place for all my craft stuff, etc. And then I had children. :teeth: And all that time I had to be OCD with my home went out the window...
