How can you rent partial points?

I have about 233 points I don't think I can use this year. When i get back from the vacation I'm on now (Harborside at the Atlantis) I'm going to check in on the details.

Here is the question:

I've seen various rent/transfer offers on the other forums. Somebody may be wanting to rent 33 points.

Since I can only trade once per year, and for me to rent, in essense, I am booking the room on behalf of somebody else, and if somebody else has say 200 points, how can they use my 33 rented points? Do I essentially rent the room for 1 night (assuming it is a 33 point night) and they rent the room for say the other 6 nights? Do you often get stuck with left over points if say the room only required 25 points and if I did one trade this year, that means I bank or toss the 8 points left?

Thanks for any help from a newbie here.

You're not trading when you rent points. You are making a reservation with your points and selling that reservation to someone else. So it can be for any number of points.

If you transfer your points to another DVC member, then transferring rules would go into effect.

And if you don't bank or use your points by the time they expire (whether you use them yourself or rent them), then you will lose them.

Usually when people talk about renting points, they are renting them to non-DVC members.
