We are leaving on 4/17 and departing 4/25 from PVD. So many of the flights are already unavailable - at all fare ranges, except the "Refundable anytime" fares . Oh, I am going to be sick. Do you think they will add more seats or do they put everything up at once?

I can't believe after waiting all of this time they are sold out already.

I'm in the same boat. Every flight except the most expensive was taken. I just booked with AirTran. My family of 4 is costing me $1,094.00. More than I wanted to pay but better than what was left with SW. Maybe you want to look at AirTran.

They're not sold out. They just know that they have an audience that will pay big bucks because they can't get any other nonstops from Providence. I booked our flights about 2 hours ago with the same dates of travel. $1300+ for four. It's still better than schlepping up to Logan to pay the same fare (or more). I'm just waiting until the other fare types open up and I'll rebook and take the credit for future flights.

I had the same problem. We are flying out of Providence on 4/11 and returning 4/20. The best fare was $343, which I booked. I figured it was not too bad for non-stop flights and considering that it is school vacation week. I tried US Air and the cheapest was $450 with connecting flights.

Best of luck to everyone..

If you were planning on renting a car in Orlando anyway, check out flying into Tampa (TPA) instead of Orlando. It's just over an hour drive to Disney from there. You may find cheaper tickets that way.

Other close airports.

Sarasota- 1:45
St. Petersburg-1:45
Daytona-2:00
Jacksonville-2:15

Even if I did the refundable anytime tickets, the price would be $1612 total (4 people) with a stop in Baltimore.

AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH, I am throwing myself on the floor!

Hi momoftwins,

How much were you looking to spend? Checking orbitz.com, there are some fares between PVD and MCO around $300 each for those dates. Not sure if the times work out or not.

Hi - I, too am bummed. Could you possibly fly out of Hartford? I think Song as well as Southwest fly out of there. Also...one other possibility depending on where you are actually located is SOUTHEAST AIRLINES out of Newburgh NY. THere rates are very affordable and the airport is easy to get to from New England. You just take 84 west all the way. However, they fly into Sanford. But my parents flew them recently for something like $59 each way. Might be worth checking out. HOpe this helps. I'm convinced SWA $79 rates are just a tease. THey probably have like two seats available at that rate!!

Is hartford out of the question? There are 79.00 flights available for those dates.

they still have the fares available, just play with the dates and departure areas near you. If they say they are not available, it does mean that the seats they have set aside for that fare are sold out.

Not a tease at all. There are many available seats at that price.
People have been anticipating this and probably jammed the net for the reservations. I have done a check for PVD, BDL and Long Island for many of the dates listed here. Into both MCO and TPA and there is availablity. More if you can change your dates a day here and there.

Thanks for your help, Gail.

Hartford is a little out of the way for us. I don't mind spending the $343 if I can get exactly the flights I want on the days I want. All my other trips I have been able to get good air fares - so once in a while, it's OK to spend more, I guess. Also, leaving on Easter during school vacation doesn't help.....

Happy Holidays,

Debbie

Whoa, those prices. I just booked one ticket with a Rapid Rewards Ticket to SNA for our DL trip in August. Guess the other 3 of us will have to pony up the full fare! But, I just checked US Air and they are twice the SW fare.

I have one better than that--SWA has stopped its service from my home town to MCO. I have free tickets to use on SWA, and now they have discontinued their service from here to MCO.:(

How about to Tampa? And, where are you?

That's the big problem, though. In almost every instance the best fares are going to be available to those who can be flexible in terms of dates and times. If you need specific times and dates, you frequently need to pay for the "privilege." The ultimate extension of this is what you wind up paying if you need exact dates and times at the last minute, when you can get great fares like $1,200 per ticket. And that can be to a great resort destination like Des Moines!

How about one-way tickets from Bermuda to Boston from a cruise that cost over $1,000 with only two days notice. That doesn't even include the cost of the cruise.... I was so sick going over on the ship that I couldn't risk cruising back. Flying was the only alternative much to my DH's dismay.....

I suggest to keep watching the site. When I initially booked my flight for our upcoming trip on February out of BDL, there were no cheap flights. I booked right when fares came out ... within a week of booking the same flight had $79 fares. Needless to say, I now have a credit with SWA.

Gail--

I am in Midland TX. We could drive the two hours to Lubbock, but the flights from there are not nearly as good as the ones we use to have from Midland. We may just have to use our free tickets for another fun trip to somewhere SWA does fly to.
