How can they justify having to pay for parking?

They are not alone. Many hotels and resorts charge for parking. I live outside of Philadelphia and many of the hotels in center city charge $20 a night or more to park.

Stayed at Loew's Philadelphia.... $38/night to park .....and, NO self park available.

If you hate the parking fee, what about the 18% gratuity that is automatically charged at the pool bars. I walk up to the bar, buy five drinks for my family for $10 apiece and get forced to leave a $9 tip each trip I make to the bar. The way I see it is it's vacation and getting my wallet abused is much better than being at work.

So true but after a few adult drinks I don't think you will worry about the 18% gratuity

All three Universal hotels (PBH, HRH, RPR) charge for parking. If you don't have a car, you shouldn't be charged. If you are charged accidentally, have the front desk remove it. You'll be asked when checking in if you have a car.

While I tend to agree that paying for parking for people who stay in the resort is a little hard to swallow (would't be so bad if it were say, $5 or $6 a day, but $12 is a bit expensive!), I just think of how much I'm paying for the whole vacation and figure what's another $60 (five nights) on top of that. Of course, now that I think of it that could find my family for dinner one night, oh well, vacation's aren't cheap that's for sure, but they are still worth it!

Out of curiousity, I checked the second hotel (Doubletree) and it indicated:

Self Parking Yes, Fees May Apply
Valet Parking Yes, Fees May Apply
