Still considering entering the DVC world but am unsure how many points I would need. Is there a website where I can plug in my anticipated vacation dates and get an idea of how many points I would need on average?

i put this in the previous post but it got missed:

here is how to start figuring the numbers:

1) start with the point charts link in the top right corner of the screen, to figure how many pts you need at your preferred resort. also, the point charts are being reallocated in 2010 so you need to be aware of that and consider adding a "buffer."

How do I find out how many points I would need to rent for the Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel, even the Paradise Pier? The website noted above seems to have only DisneyWorld... Thanks!

never mind -- can't post that link. I found charts for points for other hotels, but now I can't remember exactly how I found them -- must have been through another site.

Thanks so much for the chart...exactly what I was looking for and was unable to find. :worship: It looks like it will 'cost' fewer points to stay in the new Grand Californian DVC in 2010... I really should look into purchasing into that....

There is a great free program that was designed by one of the moderators on the DVC DISboards. Here is the link:

His programs are worth their weight in gold - a planning & tracking godsend.

Since DVC has reallocated all of the point charts beginning in 2010 you really should study only those charts that are available. Previous charts will be void and inaccurate soon. Until we get our new vacation planners for 2009-10 there really is no way to know what will be in the outside collections going forward or if the points required will remain the same. I am not sure that Caskbill has updated his program to account for the recent changes in the point charts. If you use those I would probably add some points to what you see there.
