How can I figure out how much a package would be?

We are not going until Jan 2010. I know it is a long way off but I am a charter member of the obsessive planners club. I love planning my next trip no matter where it is to.

I am thinking about doing the free dining for our next trip. How do they base the rates? Is it basically you pay rack rate for room and tickets and then it is $38 a day for the free dining?

first off you cant "do" free dining when you choose. Its offered for august/september during slow season.

If you did go during free dining you pay rack rate for room and tickets and get the dining plan for free. Just price a package for later this year to get a rough idea of how much it will cost.

Planning for 2010 is tough, since no one knows what the rates will be for 2009 and whether there will be changes to the dining plan/cost for 2009. But to get the dining plan you need to purchase a package which includes the room and tickets and the dining plan. You can book a package through AAA and get a discount on the room portion of the package while paying full rate for the tickets and dining plan. To get an idea you can try to price a package at the resort you are interested in, and then add 5-10 percent. You will have some idea.

But I can't find the cost of packages with dining. I find the details everywhere but not the cost.

Also, I didn't mean to put "free" dining. I doubt they will have it in January. Regular is fine with me.

Go to Disneworld.com and put in vacation dates, when you come to the screen with the resorts, choose your resort, when the next screen pops up scroll down to the "Dining & Entertainment" and use the pull-down menu to choose the dining plan, click update and the price should update.

Hmmm...not sure why you can't add the dining option, but when you go to the home page, on the left you can choose to price either a "package" or "room only". Choose the package option and put in your dates. This will bring you to the page where you choose your resort. You are automatically given the resort and a MYW length of stay pass pricing. You can go to EDIT the ticket type ( or keep it ) and you can EDIT to add the dining plan, either basic, deluxe, or wine package. Hope that helps. I hear there are more big changes coming to the DDP for 09 so who knows if it will continue to be a good value either next year or in 2010.---Kathy
