I found someone on Craigslist selling a 6 day park hopper with waterpark ticket and they're willing to sell it to me for $200 (HUGE savings!!!) so how exactly do I go about checking it for an expiration date when I meet them for it? I want to make sure it's legit. Thanks!!!

Disney tickets don't have an expiration date as long as they have never been used and if they have been used they are non-transferable.

There is no way to verify that they are selling you a valid unused ticket until you get to the park and try to use it.

I personally would never buy a Disney park ticket off of ebay.

This ::yes:: It's too risky. I'd rather pay full price or go to AAA for a ticket than get scammed, eat the money, and have to buy a legit ticket anyway.

You can't.

And it probably isn't legit. The only way to know would be to take the ticket to Guest Services at a park and have them check it.

This is exactly why you can't call Disney to make "sure it's legit".

Disney tickets are non transferable once they are used. If the ticket had not been used it never expires and a 6 day park hopper with waterpark has a value FAR greater than 200. So a total stranger "willing to sell it" to you for 200 is not legit.

Most likely it is someone who used the ticket totally and is trying to recoupe some money from their vacation, or a partially used ticket they want cash for. Either way you will not be able to use the ticket.

Thank you for all the wonderful answers & opinions I didn't ask for :) Love this board :goodvibes

I'm aware of the risks. I'm not stupid by any means and if anything felt "wrong" about this, I wouldn't do it. I've had a lengthy conversation with the person and feel comfortable and confident that the ticket is real... I just wasn't sure on the expiration date thing. They were asking more for the ticket but I explained our situation and they agreed to lower the price. I'm willing to take the risk... there are lots of tickets sold on Ebay everyday and I rarely see a complaint on there. Thank you all for the advice though

Well, if you're "comfortable and confident that the ticket is real" then there is no need to do any verification. Someone who wouldn't lie to you about whether the ticket is real is certainly not going to lie to you about an expiration date.

Big difference between Ebay and Craigslist, but I am sure your are smart enough to have figured that out. On Ebay there is some "accountability". So the buyer has some recourse.

You meet a guy off Craigslist in the parking lot of Walmart, you have no recourse.

I am sure the ticket is "real", just as I am sure it is not good.

I will be sure to report back after our trip in May to let you know how things went. I don't know how everyone can be so "sure" of everything when you don't know all the circumstances.

Lookin forward to it. :)

I am sure there will be a glowing trip report after the fact.

As far as "circumstances", we only know what you posted. You asked a question. You got answers. Once again you did not like the answers.

You can choose to buy "discount" tickets from an unknown source, you can choose to not listen to the advice you have been given. You can choose to not listen to people with a little more experience than you have. I just hope you are prepared to buy a new ticket at the gate.

Feel free to ignore all the reported cases of stolen tickets in the Orlando news. Feel free to figure out why Disney no longer provides the ticket information you are looking for on the phone. Feel free to think this "nice" stranger on Craigslist(which posts warning about scams) is willing to sell something worth a great deal of money, for 200 bucks.

My apologies to PT Barnum who, as evidenced by this very thread, knew of what he spoke. ;)

Well nevermind, she sold the tickets tonight. Oh well... it was worth a shot. Sorry to get everyone's panties in a bundle.. lol.. :lmao:

Shouldn't that be "panties in a bunch"? I am sure it is bunch LOL
No, I'm pretty sure that the term is "panties in a wad".

Whatever. The OP saved a bunch of money by not buying that ticket.

Or maybe it's a wad of money.

Or maybe she was corect to begin with and it was a bundle of money.

Or a pantload.

That's it. It was a pantload of money.

Love those E*trade commercials!
