How can I book with 2 membership numbers?

When you discussed with MA the desire to combine everything together, did you specifically mention that you had a December trip on the membership you wanted dissolved and whether or not that would be an issue?

Normally, when a contract changes owners/memberships, reservations can not be transferred. Your situation is unique so hopefully, it was something you discussed before having them do it.
When I first emailed in July, I just asked if my two contracts could be put under one membership number. I was told it could and I just needed to provide the membership and contract numbers so it could be reviewed. I replied with the membership and contract numbers. I didnt hear anything from membership administration after that. I emailed last Thursday saying I was following up on our previous emails and asked if they were going to be able to do it. I got a reply yesterday saying they had merged the two contracts under one membership number. I didn't mention that I had a trip booked. I didn't know that there was a possibility of my trip being cancelled by doing this and they didn't inform me that it was possible.

I would follow up with them ASAP because normally, all trips are canceled when a contract changes to a different membership: owner.

While you are the same owners, different memberships means the system considers you different.

i hope that in this case they are going to do it differently. You could also follow up with MS because they load points and they may be able to tell if the trip was held for you.

I only mention because when we were adding our adult kids when buying RIV, they told me to get them added to my Aug UY contracts first so when they created RIV it was an add on. Had we not down it that way, my trips booked with Aug UY points would have been canceled when I would have tried to combined later.

Good luck.

I chatted with member services twice yesterday and explained what was done, that I could not see my December trip, and that no points are showing available on that contract any year in the future. I was told that it was still in the process of being transferred.

Fingers crossed it transfers without issue!!!

Just got done with the phone call to member services. The person I spoke with got IT involved and now my reservations are back and my points are back in my account. Thanks for all the help!

Woohoo! So glad to know that!!!

If you have multiple reservations (for the same room type) for the same stay under different contracts they can link the reservations so you don’t have to change rooms, we do it all the time.
I have a question, do they allow you to still book dining for the second part of your stay when your 60+10 starts for the first part?
Dining and having to change rooms during our trip are my biggest concerns. (Sounds like being homeless one afternoon is a non-issue though. 😊)

No, you can not book across two different reservations any longer. MS used to be able to do it, but they no longer can. So, when booking a split stay across two different memberships, you will need to book dining in two segments.

Even if you have two reservations on the same membership (same room & resort) that can be merged together, you are stuck with two windows for dining now.
