How can a renter check on their reservation?

Hi,

Can anyone please post who has recently checked on their reservation, if they called the resort or Disney's central reservation to check on their DVC reservation rental. I know that the member can call Member Services, but can the renter also do this with the confirmation number, or with their last name only? I tried calling the Beach Club Villas to check on a reservation with the confirmation number. I was told that they only get reservation info. 4 days prior to check-in. Why would they have the ph. number to the resort on the confirmation letter if this is the case?

Please post if you have rented points, and have been successful checking on a reservation made for you.

Thank you:)

I have rented before..... why not just call the person you rented from and ask to be conferenced into member services.

And then you can have the reservation re-confirmed, and ask any q's you have....

a suggestion, Goldi

I've rented points on two occasions. Both times I've called MS and they confirmed my reservation (I didn't mention renting points. I said that it was a reservation made for me by a member).

Thanks!

They do not open until 9am, so I'll have to wait. Thank you for your quick response:) I appreciate it!

Why not just call the member you rented from? If the member wanted to, they could cancel your reservation a day before you get there. So really, calling Member Services yourself doesn't make much difference. Didn't the member send you a copy of your reservation?

When I call Member Services they usually won't talk to me until I provide my member number and last four digits of my Social Security Number. I'd be surprised that Member Services would give out information on a member's account without a Membership Number and Social Security Number.

Now, if you are already a member, I think it's easier to check. Are you a vacation club member and someone else made you a reservation? I have double checked a reservation made by another member for me before without problems after I gave my member number and Soc.

The number you are calling is not the hotel front desk, it is actually the Disney operator, in the call center that answers the calls. While they are very knowledgable, they don't always know how DVC works. At a regular Disney hotel (where reservations are booked through Central Reservations) the reservation is not downloaded to the hotel until about 5-7 days prior to arrival. DVC is different, those reservations download immediatly. As soon as the reservation is booked by member services (it takes about 5-10 minutes on average) it is in the hotel system. If calling MS doesn't work for you, which it may or may not...call the hotel back, explain that you are staying a the Villas on a points reservation and give them your last name, if they do tell you that the reservations don't download, ask them if they could look anyway, explain that it is a DVC points reservation and you were informed that they are downloaded from MS right after they are booked (just make sure you are polite about it...not that you would not be)

Nope.

The resort will not have the info until 3-4 days prior to arrival. Renters need to call MS. A renter should already have the confirmation number, and MS can look things up and verify everything. CRO, the resort, etc, simply don't have access to the ressie system and can't help.

Being a room assigner at BC, WL and OKW over the course of 5 years I assure you that DVC point reservation (which this would be) are downloaded from MS to the hotel system immediatley (ok 5-10 sometimes 20 minutes) after they are booked. They do not follow the same rules as the CRO/DRC reservations (a true renter) that download 5-7 days prior to arrival. All reservations booked on points through Member services are in the hotel system as far out as you can book them...

Hi,

I will call the hotel directly, not the number given on the letter (operator), and let them know it's DVC points.

Thank you for your information and the PMs!! I appreciate it. I'll post what works.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the info InstImpress and CDSTapisRouge! I'll tuck that tidbit away for future trips.

cinderpals - if you haven't received the ressie confirmation from the person you rented from, call them and have them send it (or a copy) to you. They still control the ressie, but you'll have the info in your hands to make sure the names, dates and room choice are correct.

You can then call either Member Services or the resort number listed on the confirmation to check on your reservation. (If any changes need to be made, earlier is better than later.) And you'll have it ready for when you check in. It's also a good idea to call a few days before your trip just to recheck everything.

Simply call Member Services, tell them you want to confirm a reservation made in your name, give them the name and reservation number, and you'll be all set.

I did that years ago when I rented points from a member, and now that I rent out points that is what I have all my renters do, which was done as recently as a month ago by my latest customer.

Thank you, Disflan! Yes, fortunately for OKW guests, since they have a lot of members that stay there, they seem to know what to do when someone calls to check on their reservation. I called the BCV's ph. number on the confirmation letter, and didn't get anywhere. I ended up calling many times last night, asking for the front desk, letting them know it was a DVC reservation, etc... I called MS this morning, and quickly confirmed the reservation. It was quick and easy. That's what I'll be doing from now on.

I called member services, and let them know that I had a reservation in my name with the confirmation number. Easy as pie, not on the phone longer than 5 minutes. For me, calling the resort, particularly BCVs, did not work at all.

Thanks, for all the great advice Disers!!
