how bothersome are the pets?

We are hoping to stay in the 1500 loop which is located next to the pet loops. (1600-1900) How bothersome are the pets? I am assuming that most pets that are along on a camping trip are quite used to it and don't bark and cry all the time.

What are some of experiences from you seasoned Fort Wilderness Campers?

Thanks - lori

You never know who is going to be in the next site, but most people who take their dogs take well-behaved dogs. Most of them will make some noise when people walk right in front of them, but in years of camping, I've never had a dog keep me up barking all night.

That being said, some people do take dogs that bark. If that would just reallly bother you, then you should consider a different loop.

They are very quiet. I have never had trouble with any pets. I did have someones dog come over to my loop once but it was no problem at all. We called the kennel and they came to pick it up. Not much barking going on if that is what you are concerned about.

we have stayed in a pet loop on two occasions and have not had a problem with loud dogs,

On our last trip we were in the 1400 loop which is NOT a pet loop and there was a lttle dog that was running around barking, security was on the scene very quickly, seems the dog got out of a motorhome somehow.

If you do encounter a problem with noice I would not hesisitate to call guest services, you probably will not have any problems though.

We have stayed in the pet loops and have not had any problem with pets. I believe when you are not at your site your animal must be secured in your camper. I also think you can't have them in a tent. So if they do bark they are inside. We did have some problems with people not cleaning up after their dogs. This bothers me, as Disney gives you ample bags(at beginning of loop area, trash can right there too!) and areas to walk the dogs...So the dogs were fine, just some of the dog walkers need to be more respectful of other people.

Hi Lori,

Is there a reason you are requesting the 1500 loop witout a pet? Because there are lots of other great sites that are full-hook ups that maybe more convient for you.

It will be a little nosiy around he pet areas as alot of pet owners tie their dogs outside and leave them. As a responsiable pet owner I don't believe in this policy, but folks do it. Also, their are some small dogs that are brought, but their are also ALOT of big dogs that are brought as well. You will see dogs being walked around your site at all hours of the day and unfortunalty sometimes you may run into a small child being dragged by a big dog. Again, I don't reccommend to folks to allow small children to take dogs like that for a walk because they can't control them, but it happens alot! It may be more of an inconvience than you bargin for...pet owners don't have a choice, but you do!

We have a collie (and yes, my 9 yr old has walked her for about 3 yrs without problems!) She's a well-behaved dog. I didn't notice any problems with barking dogs when we stayed in Oct. They are supposed to be kept in hardsided campers (NO TENTS) whenever you aren't there.

Dogs will bark at other dogs, normally, when another walks by. Annie has done this and we make her stop. That's the problem I have with some owners. They just let them bark and bark. If you're worried about it, stay in another loop.

Hi there - it's me lori, the original poster. I was asked by Mmketeer the reason why i was requesting loop 1500, and here's my answer - hope it clarifies a little.
I booked the site after seeing a special in our paper. We got a partial hook up site for 25.50/night. We don't need full. (our popup only has water and electric and we certainly don't need cable - the son watched too much TV at home. I don't want him watching it on vacation as well.) That being said, the only two partial hook up sites that i know of are 1500 and 2000. I am interested in 1500 because it is much closer to the pool, campfire and other goodies. It also is right next door to loop 1600 which is a pet loop. (1600- 1900 are full hook up/pet loops)

I am certainly not a dog hater. (Beauford our big, sloppy, lovable basset hound is staying with Grammom!)
I can certainly deal with a little bit of barking (Beauf still barks a bit when put to "bed" at night. He sleeps indoors so as not to disturb the neighbors), heck i live in and urban area - i can sleep through city busses past my window at all hours, police sirens (go get 'em honey - DH is a cop on midnights!) and at least one dog a few blocks away barking. I only asked the question to find out how "up close" and loud the barking, if there happens to be any would be. Like i mentioned in my original post....most dogs who go along while camping are used to it by now and well behaved.:D

Lori: I didn't think you were a dog hater, but thought you wondered about how much barking there was. I didn't mean it harshly when I said "if you're worried about it, stay in another loop." That came out wrong and could have been misread. I should have ended it with "you might want to think about staying..." Sometimes it's hard to tell with written words (especially those written in a hurry) what the tone of the sentence is. You know what I mean?? ;)

TinkerbellRules - I certainly do know what you mean. :D I think that factor alone may be a big cause for most of the flames not only on these boards, but on internet boards in general. A simple misinterpretation of a typed thought. I appreciate you clarifying that.

I am not majorly concerned about the dog noise thing...just wanted to tidy up every little detail to try and make our hard earned, well deserved and greatly needed vacation as perfect as possible. It's this obsessive person's curse. :)
(I am sure others can relate to that.....after all we are all hanging out here because we are WDW fanatics right?;) )

have a good one - lori
