How big is your garage?

And how many cars can you actually fit in it?

Ours is a three-car garage, but its actual contents are one part car, one part pure junk, and one part non-junk other (lawn care equipment, tools, sports equipment, etc.).

What's in your garage?

Don't know the exact dimensions right now, but when we were building, what they considered a standard garage was so small. We had ours widened and lengthened by 5 ft just for our two vehicles. We wanted plenty room for a utility sink and shelving. We also built an RV garage/shop 27'X40'. A lot of people we know don't even use their garages for vehicles as they have no outdoor storage for lawn equipment, etc. so park their cars outside and use their garages for storage.

No @kimblebee, basements are definitely not standard. We had an unfinished one when we lived in MD for a while, but we didn't use it (except for a catchall for stuff we didn't want or need) or like it even though it was a walkout. In the deep south there are none that I know of, the water table is so high that you would have a pond - not a basement LOL.

Ours is technically a three car garage but a single section of it doesn't have a garage door, the original owners built it with a wall and window when the house was built. That section is closest to the house, its raised a tiny bit from the rest of the garage and has indoor/outdoor carpet. Our washer/dryer and water heater is in the section along with a half bath. We have shelving units, used for storage and my husband has a workbenches in the corner. The rest of the garage is mostly filled with tons and tons of tools and toolboxes. My husband says you can never have too many tools....:sad2::laughing:

We don't usually park in there but can if we want to.

0. When we were building the house, the extra amount for an garage seemed a bit much. I like having the yard on the side and a garage would have gone to the property line. Besides, Mom and Dad finally added a garage after I married and moved out. It has had a car in it exactly once. A month after they built it, they bought a pool table for all the grandkids to enjoy so it became a grandkids hangout. Now that my brother has the house, it has a picnic table in it. (No idea why). They had a pool table, dart board and a fridge for canned drinks out there.

We have a large laundry room where the freezer goes. A storage shed for storage, lawn tools, etc. and a small barn for the riding mower.
