Hey guys,
My fiance and I are going to disney next month and will be staying in carribean beach resort. We have never stayed there before and while we were doing our research, after I booked the trip, we stumbled upon a resort map and it looks huge. Just wanted to know is it really that big or is it how the map is layed out?

Parts are indeed a long way from the food court. On the other hand, it is a nice quiet resort with a nice view of illuminations from the pool/food court.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Do any of you know if you can request to stay in one of the areas near the food court and pool or is that determined when you get there? If it were up to me I wouldn't want to be near the food court but the fiance will probably want to be close haha

Although all of the moderates (except POFQ) have almost the exact same number of rooms, CBR covers a lot more geography because it is the oldest moderate and the layout is 2 stories exclusively while the other resorts, I believe do have some 3 story buildings. I've stayed at CBR most recently and found it to be a nice vacation spot. Yes, it has the most bus stops, yes it is so big it offers and internal bus -- but it is no where big as the Parks!!! There are preferred rooms that are closest to Old Port Royale -- if you look at a map you can see where the preferred locations (Trinidad North and Martinique) are as well as the buildings closest to the preferreds that you don't have to pay extra $$ for. I stayed in Aruba, which was a nice 5-10 minute walk through all the beautiful landscaping and across the bridge from Old Port Royale. I understand the bridge is under construction right now, so you would have to walk around the lake --- which I believe is 1.25 miles if you circle it. Note, I've also stayed at CSR and thought my run was in a different resort it was such a far walk to the food court, and POR where I sprung for a preferred room and had a leisurely 45 second walk to the food court.

I hope this helps,.

Tom

Agree with PP as to the older design leads to a very spread out resort and it's around a big lake. Disney learned many lessons after they built it and never built one that spread out again. If you don't enjoy walking then book a preferred room. There is also one of the bridges closed to get across the lake so they are running shuttles and little pontoon ferry boats. The plus for CBR is the rooms other than the Pirate rooms to the south are all brand new inside!

Here is a comparison of moderate sizes:

It's Gi-normous! Nah just kidding. It's no bigger than its sister mods (CSR or POR, but not POFQ). Use the bridge to get across to the pool and lobby, and check the map for the closest bus stop to your room. Also be prepared for long bus waits.

Oh oh.. bridge refurb? When should that be done? We requested the buildings just across the bridge from the pool.

The bridge refurb is currently scheduled to end Christmas day. If you'll be staying after that, I'd request Jamaica or Aruba. If you're staying before that, I'd upgrade to a preferred room.

Wow, we go in 2 weeks... better call. Thanks!

The wife and I are staying there for two weeks at the end of this month into October. We have stayed there five times before , it's a nice resort with a lot of room to roam. Nice walks around the lake which has a beach, nice pools and good food. They have a jogging trail if your into that. Nice pool bar with a good mix of drinks. It's good size but not huge, you can walk that whole thing easily.

You'll have fun..

It's huge. It's beautiful. I loved all of it. I wish we had more time to spend enjoying the property.

My husband thought we were too far from Old Port Royale, in Martinique 21, but it was fine. It was a bit confusing to get back to our room easily so we'd just cut through the parking lot. We were super close to the bus stop, though.

You'll have a wonderful time there! Enjoy every second.

We're here right now and it's a really BIG resort. We're in Aruba and it's a bit of inconvenient getting over to Old Port Royale. They do have shuttle vans going back and forth to each of the villages though.

Here now also, its that big.

Ive see walking, bus shuttles and a boat being used to get everyone around. I happen to be in a preferred room so not too bad for us.

Many are going straight from breakfast to a park with their cups using that stop.

It is HUGE! I like it but we stayed in a preferred room. That did not stop DD and DSIL from complaining the entire time about the size. Next mod was POFQ and we have never looked back. Just plan for the time it takes to get from one place to another and it will be okay.

Truly, this is a lovely resort that has great amenities, and plenty of beautiful grounds and beaches. It is just wicked spread out
