How big is disneys CBR?

I read this thread and thank God we booked a preferred room, requested Martinique 25 too - so fingers crossed

Awesome. Thanks for all of the help and answering my questions. We are going to be there October 12th-16th so hopefully the crowds won't be too bad. We are looking forward to staying at this resort. We have stayed at the value resorts and off property in the past, so we are definitely excited to be staying at CBR and to visit the theme parks as well.

If you take out the Pirate Rooms, CBR has the exact footprint as POFQ. It is a great resort, and I have no problems walking the resort, even with having had both knees replaced.

That is like saying if you took out the Bayou rooms POR would be the same size as POFQ. :rotfl2: But as it is, CBR is large. And even with only having had relatively minor knee surgery, I didn't appreciate the size of it. I would only stay at CBR again if I paid for a preferred room.

CBR has 2,112 rooms, 384 are pirate rooms -- that leaves 1,728 non-pirate rooms. POFQ has 1,008.....not even close to the same size comparison.

I meant Riverside, but I get your point. POR and CBR are the exact same acreage...200 acres. POR has 2048 rooms and CBR has 2112. A 64 room difference.

You'd think that we are talking like CBR is as long as the Appalachian Trail. At the furthest direct point from any resort, you are .6 miles from OPR with the bridge being out.

We are here now. It's big but not as big as I had anticipated from reading the boards. If you are coming during the bridge refurb and haven't booked preferred, I would recommend requesting Barbados. We are in Barbados 13 and the walk to OPR is about 5 minutes. It's only a minute or two longer than walking from the non preferred buildings in Martinique. We requested Martinique but no go. I imagine they are getting flooded with requests for Martinique with the bridge refurb. Anywhere in Aruba is going to be bad IMO. Without the bridge it is going to be the longest walk. The other end of Jamaica like 41 isn't bad, probably a 5 minute walk. The resort shuttle does not seem to be running that often IMO. We have been here 6 days and I've seen 2 shuttles the whole time and we are at the bus stop every day going somewhere. I've seen 3 Epcot buses, 2 magic kingdom buses, and a Hollywood studios bus go by without seeing a shuttle.

We actually stayed in Barbados, a standard room last September, and probably the furthest from Old Port Royale. DH, DD(6), and myself. We were fine with the walks. Not bad at all for us, we are active people. Made the walks daily to food court, pool, etc. Beautiful resort. We are staying at POR for a week this month, but seriously loved CBR, it reminded us of our wedding at Sandals in Jamaica, so we may book there for next year :)

Absolutely NOT correct. POFQ footprint would be equal to Barbados and Martinique only.

No one is saying it's not walkable, I mean you are walking the parks, but it is a very large resort due to the two story buildings spread out around a large lake. It is the biggest of the moderates walking wise. It has 7 bus stops and an internal bus, way more than the others. Agree for many it's not big deal, for for those who are not interested in walking at the resort they need to know.

Yup. Confused POFQ with POR.

We just got back and noticed that they had boat pickup as well for Aruba and Jamaica, but not sure on the frequency. I really liked this resort-it was very pretty! Fortunately, for us, we didn't notice the size as we stayed in a preferred section in Trinidad North and I thought it was a fantastic location-very close to old port royale and the main feature pool.

Okay, got ya.

But logistics are still different between POR and CBR. POR is in a tight circle with lots of bridges that make most walks still shorter than many walks at CBR even not including the Pirate rooms. Building CBR around a larger oblong lake with only the one center bridge for a good part of the resort to get to the pool and food ... was a lesson learned for Disney and no moderate since has been built in such a spread out manor with two story buildings only.

It's still a pretty resort with brand new rooms and many love it. I just think everyone going in needs to know IF the walking is an issue you need to book preferred.

How is the bus service? I know there are 7 stops, but wondering how much time it takes getting around before you're off to your destination Also, is the preferred room location first bus pick up / drop off? We've tried POR and CSR, looking to try something new.

If I remember right, it was about 10 minutes or so to make it around if you are picked up at the first stop. And the first stop is usually Jamaica, not near the preferred rooms.

It's big after a full day at the parks but it is a nice resort. Request non preferred Martinique room, I found this to be a good location.

Yeah, it is big. We just got back. We were put in Jamaica and it was a long walk to the OPR with the bridge being out. We had to go up and around and all the way down around the lake. Just too much in this heat. We had horrible luck with the shuttles they were running to OPR so we asked to be moved. We were moved to Martinique and it was great.

We usually drive to the parks. At POR we were able to park close to our building. Same with CSR. WL's parking wasn't anywhere near our room (we were at the Villas). I have already booked CBR for Oct 2016. I don't mind to walk but would love it if we could park close by....

It is big, but it's sooo pretty! We actually stayed in those "far, far, away" pirate rooms, and I still enjoyed the walk. We were escaping a horrible New England winter, and it was just glorious to be outside in nature! We did go straight from breakfast to the park via the closer bus stop a couple of times.

For anyone planning to arrive soon, try for Barbados or Martinique!! Jamaica and Aruba were such an inconvenience! The resort is huge and the internal shuttles take forever! I was not a fan of CBR, hopefully your stay will be better than mine :)
