I just got my Cricut expression (I've been wanting one since they came out) :goodvibes . I'm doing a Disney theme in my classroom and I wanted to make a big Minnie and Mickey for my outside bulletin board. I have the 12x24 paper and mat and tried to make one really tall, but the biggest I could make it was 15 3/4 for Minnie and 15 1/2 for Mickey. Is this the biggest they get? I'm really bummed because that is the whole reason I bought the big paper. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks:worship:

If you have it set to "Fit to Paper" then that is the biggest it can get.. That is one thing that kinda stinks, is that you can't get the full size, on lots of cuts, b/c the machine doesn't resize all the aspects and proportions of the cut, so you are stuck with whatever it *thinks* will fit on the size page.. So in other words - it doesn't know how to reshape all the aspects of the cut, so if it just enlarged part of it to fit to that size, it would be distorted..
So, that is probably as big as it can go.. i don't have any large paper (where did you get yours?) so i can't really help..

If you go to the Cricut website there is a message board there. They have different threads which address each cart separately. They may be able to answer your question. They have solved a few for me.

I haven't been able to find the big paper at any local stores in my area, so I bought it at Joann Fabrics online store. It was $14.39 per pad. I have also seen it on ebay. :thumbsup2

Remember, that character sizes aren't just determined by their height, but also the width. When you cut your 15 1/2" Mickey, how wide is he? If he is approaching 11 1/2" it isn't going to work to go bigger, because the paper is only 12" and there is 1/4" buffer on each side.

did you change your mat size to 12x24 on the screen then push portrate button then push the fit to page button and choose which chatater you want. that it the biggest you can make that one character - dont forget to take off the fit to page button after you cut the base - before cutting the other pieces
does this make scene?

Hiya,

I just put mickey #1 in the CDS and the dimensions are Width:11.82 and height:17.94.

Thats the biggest it will go on the 12x24 mat on the screen. the ears and feet are wider than the rest. Hope that helps.

I don't know which one I made, but it was a full body one. I did just the Mickey face and it was 17 3/4, so that will work out well for my outside bulletin board. I'm really excited about this and I LOVE my cricut! I will have themed bulletin boards in my classroom (Goofy/Pluto reading words wall, Mickey/Minnie job board, and Daisy/Donald birthday board) and once they're done, I will try to post pics, although I've never done that before.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I also cut several quotes from the black vinyl and have them in my office that is off of my classroom. The quotes I chose were 1). It all started with a mouse, 2). All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust, and 3.) Believe in magic). I also put mickey inside of a clock. This is just way too fun! :cool1:
