How big are the room safes?

DH and I are debated on taking our digital camera and/or just disposables. I don't want to have to worry about the digital on excursions. DH wants the digital to use on the ship and store in the safe. The camera case is about 5"X7"X4". Will this fit in the safe?

My digital fit in the safe and also my moms pocketbook.....I actually never really rmembered except one day to put it in there...I left my digital and video camera on the desk most of the time and it was fine there but I always had the money and birth certificates locked up.

you shouldn't have any problems putting a digital camera in the safe. I say the safe is half the size of an adult shoe box.

One thing that surprised me is that your key to the world is also your key to the safe. On other ships I have used a credit card.

Most people use their KTTW card because it is the one they will most likely carry at all times. But the safe is not specifically keyed to only DCL KTTW. You should be able to use any card with a magnetic stripe to close the safe. The reader in the safe "remembers" the code on the card used to lock the safe and will only grant access to that code.

That's why the safe won't open to anyone else's KTTW in that same cabin, it needs the code from the locking card. So you could use your Visa, MC, Amex, or even a room key from another hotel. As long as it has a mag strip, it should work.
