How bad is the Sci Fi?

Our lunch was so-so, the only good thing was the Popcorn Chowder which I loved, of course I love just about any soup. DFiance and Sister's lunches were ewww.

We had cheeseburgers here for lunch and loved them. They were actually excellent, and I had been prepared for bad food (wanted to have the experience.) The shakes were very similar to McDonalds shakes to me, but I like McDonalds shakes so I certainly didn't mind. I haven't heard many good things about dinner, but I would go back for lunch in a heartbeat.

One of the only reasons why we make a trip to mgm is to eat at the sci fi!!! We look forward every visit to the burgers, onion rings and the best chocolate shakes in the world!!!

I was nervous about trying the Sci-fi..but decided to go out and give it a try. We LOVED it!! We (DH and I) had the BBq chicken sandwiches with fries and a drink..VERY VERY good. DS had a hotdog and LOVED it. Our waitress was GREAT..the "feel" of the resturant is wonderful and unlike anything we will or have ever experienced!!! Give it a try!!!! HAve a gREAT vacation!!

I can't get a table for 8 at Hollywood and Vine, and dh doesn't really like either italian food or the idea of the "50's Prime Time" interactive experience.

Is the food that bad?

Absolutely not! I have no idea why this place gets such bad writeups on this board. I hestitated going there..until one day..it was hot, we were tired & hunger...and they let us in....and WOW it is now one of our favorite Restaurants in Disney (I think they should open a chain of these). Food is great! Atmosphere is FUN and the service is some of the BEST Disney has to offer.

We go once every couple of trips. We go for the ambiance, not for the food.

Why do you think it's so dark in there?

When I first went to the Sci-Fi I had lunch and it was good.

However, last year I had dinner there and went with the dinner entrees instead of the typical lunch fare, etc. (burger, chicken sandwich) and it was a horrible exprience.

I am not one to complain, but this was so bad, I had to write a thread to warn my fellow Disers not to do dinner at this place. The atmosphere at this place is really great and lunch is fine, but don't get anything fancier then a burger and onion rings or you will leave hunry because the food I was served was not edible.

If you want a good dinner in MGM go to the Brown Derby (excellent).

I only ever did lunch at the Sci Fi. I like the Brown Derby too...the kid don't.

This is my two daughter's favorite sitdown at MGM. They love the atmosphere - sitting in the cars, watching old scary movies, etc. The food is good - we usually get cheeseburgers. We have always had a PS and got right in. We are going on June 26th for lunch. Can't wait!!
