I think the worst thing about MS is you can't really predict how you are going to do on it because each person's experience is different. Out of our family of 4, DS16, DD14 and I did just fine. DH said he couldn't wait for it to be over and won't ride it again. I told him before the ride that the feeling was simulated with the ride spinning. He can't stand spinning rides and maybe I shouldn't have told him. He didn't have any prolonged sickness afterward or anything, just didn't like it.
As for just looking straight ahead, DS was pushing the buttons on my console the first time we rode it because I was so nervous I looked straight ahead and didn't move my eyes from the screen at all! Even looking over towards my console and back to his he didn't get sick.
Best of luck! I hope you give it a try and find it enjoyable. I went on it first with DS to try it out before DD & DH. I told them two things - you can't even tell you are spinning and if the G-forces are bothering you realize it only lasts like 10-15 seconds at the most and I think it happens twice. Good luck!
