How bad is Columbus Day?

Sorry, search isn't working. Would the week before or the week of Columbus day be better or worse?

I'm trying to finish our interrupted vacation from May. My choices are the third/fourth week of september, around columbus day, or the end of October (which seems to have the least availability). I'm not a heat person (nearly melted a couple weeks ago), and I would like to avoid those pesky afternoon rainfalls. And my dd wants to get a little swimming in. I'm leaning towards the earlier october time, but is it really crowded?? Is it just the actual weekend itself, especially MK?

TIA.

I've never been on Columbus Day, but when I called Disney to book a week in October, she suggested the week before or after CD week. She said that she had her family come to Disney on CD weekend one year and she said she'd never do it again. For what that's worth to you!

I'm sure that any holiday week-end will bring large crowds, but if you're trying to avoid rain, you may want to choose sometime other than early October.

One year we were there from Oct 1-10th; wore our rain ponchos every single day . . . . . . . Maybe it was just our bad luck. :(

Donna, I know about rain! We were there last December during the abnormal monsoons.

For those that posted behind me, search was up again! Sounds like the FT package is making everything a big guess. (At least until June 29!) But the week OF Columbus day seems to be the busiest. There is a golf tournament the end of the month, which explains why there were only view rooms available at CBR.

But I still wonder.... Is it pretty much just at MK?

We were there the week of Columbus Day last year (actually arrived on Columbus Day). We are use to the crowds (or lack thereof) the week after Labor Day. We were quite suprised at how crowded it was. But then again going from no crowds to any crowds can be a shock!!! The wait times varied anywhere from walk on to over 60 minutes. ToT was the longest... it said 30 minutes but we definitely waited over an hour. We did have great weather though.
