We have a breakfast PS for Chef Mickey's.

How yucky can a breakfast buffet be? We generally enjoy fresh fruit and muffins, cereal and the like for a meal like this.

Do you think we will be disappointed?

Has anyone ever ordered the pancakes? Do they make them "to order" and you stand and wait? How much interaction do you have with a server? We have only done a pre-plated character breakfast at WL. But since Pooh and friends have moved on...

We generally don't do buffet dining at WDW, but I did want at least one character meal. Chef Mickey's sounded the most appealing character wise.

What do you all think?

Thanks,
penny

Chef Mickeys is a typical buffet breakfast. All items are prepared in batches and placed on steam tables (including pancakes) I think they will make an omlette to order but everything else is already prepared. There is a good selection of muffins and cereal though. It is worth the money if you eat a full breakfast but if all your used to is a muffin and cereal its pretty expensive for that. Servers are quit good but most of the interaction is with the characters which are out for a good length of time. Overall its a fun meal especially if you have kids but the adults tend to get into the characters also.

I was at Chef Mickey's on Sunday. We had a great time. We had a 7:30 PS so the place was empty when we arrived. We got our group picture (which turned out really well) and then was seated. I am on weight watchers so I had to watch what I ate (although I still had good stuff). They had a WONDERFUL fruit bar. I had eggs with cheese and green peppers that was good. I also tried a mickey waffle, which is a must when at WDW. The rest of my party had pancakes (topped with the strawberry bananas from the fruit bar), bacon, sausage, etc... We were full and didn't eat again till around 4pm. Overall it was a good experience that I would repeat. Oh, and all the characters made sure to come to our table and spend plenty of time with us to take pictures.

Weve done Chef Mickeys 3x since 1998 and always really enjoyed it. This year we wanted to try Breakfastasaurus instead. I wish we hadnt. We will be going back to Chef Mickeys next time.
Be sure to try the breakfast pizza! Yummy!

The food can you make you

We go for the characters if we go at all.

Thumbs down for the food, but a BIG thumbs up for the character interaction!

I thought the food was at best medicore. Personally, I like the buffets at 1900 Park Fare or Cape May much better.

However, character interaction at Chef Mickey's is fantastic -- whether you are an adult or a child or anything in between.

Go for the fun, but not because of the food.

We have done Chef Mickey three times since 1997 and thoughly enjoy it. The food is okay, some items out shine others, but that is too be expected. We go for the character interactions and napkin waving. We have done all but three of the breakfasts/dinners offered and CM is one of our favorites. Like any reviews, some folks will like it and some won't.:D

We like the food and the atmosphere @Chef Mickeys. I'm one of the wierd ones that usually likes buffet food.

Have you looked into 'Ohana's character breakfast? It is not a buffet.

I love breakfast buffets! I don't really care for dinner buffets (except Boma), but I really enjoy breakfast buffets...hard to mess them up, IMO.

We've been to Chef Mickey's twice and Donald's once and enjoyed both! The times we went to Chef Mickey's, we did a later breakfast (around 10:30) and at Donald's we were had the earliest PS (8:10). We enjoyed both! The food at both was always hot, fresh, and good. The characters were great...stopped at our table to pose for pictures. :) Lots of fun!

Chef Mickey's is more of a fun atmopshere, IMO, becuase they do the whole napkin thing. The atmosphere at Donald's is really cute w/ all the dinosaur stuff. We'd do both again!

I agree with what somebody else said - a big thumbs down to the food (cold, tasteless, picked over, boring choices, etc.) and a big thumbs up to the atmosphere and characters. We love seeing the monorail go through the Contemporary! We probably won't go back, though. There are too many other character breakfasts with much better food - Ohanas and 1900 Park Fare come to mind.

Eeyore 2U,

What an expressive image! Not exactly what I was hoping for!

Chef Mickey diners:

We are not an eggs and breakfast meat family. Is it possible to even mess up on fruit, cereal, pastry and such? Our PS is for prime time - 8:45 a.m.

Anyone know if they offer oatmeal? We will be using our flex feature on this breakfast. Does this make any difference in what is offered? At the Artist Point Pooh breakfast, there were additions beyond the standard fare, although I can't recall the what they were.

The whole Chef Mickey's deal is more appealing than Ohana's which is why I opted for the Contemporary. Since we are staying at the WL, it will be fairly convenient for arrival and departure.

I hope I made a good choice!

You won't be disappointed. Honestly, all breakfast buffet food is essentially the same. Getting fresh food is the key. Whether it's pancakes, omlettes, muffins...just look at it and see if it looks fresh. Doesn't matter where you are!

We ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner. The food was nothing spectacular but the atmosphere was great.

Buffet food is buffet food.
