how bad are the crowds?

That might not work. If you are leaving MK on the 4th you may not get back in that day due to the park closing to capacity. Even if you have an ADR you could still be denied access to the park.

We arrive on the 4th but our first day in the parks is on the 5th. Our first ARD in MK isn't till the 7th. I'm not worried we won't get in on the 7th. We are resort guest with ADR and our ADR isn't till 8:15 p.m.

You should not have a problem getting in on the 7th. Just as a precaution for the future, resort guests are guaranteed entry in to A park but not necessarily the park of your choosing. If the MK reaches a certain level of capacity , you won't be allowed in (resort guest or not). Same goes for ADR's, just because you have an ADR doesn't mean you are guaranteed in. Again, if the park is at capacity you won't be allowed in regardless.

Just some info for future reference.

It will be crowded, but you can handle it! No sweat! (Well, OK, lots of sweat, but you know.) I've been during July 4th week several times and always had a blast, even days when parks were closed for capacity.

The worst trip I ever took in terms of crowd was day after Christmas through NYE. It made July 4 week look like a walk in the park. Never again.

Agreed! We went last July 4th, and we had such a good time that we are going back this year. It was crowded, but it was fun!

Just got back last night and the crowds were definitely building. Our best plan was getting to the park by rope drop. We were able to do everything we wanted and as the early afternoon crowds started streaming in, we were on our way back to the resort. TS Debby did affect the crowd levels for about 2 days. The sun was back though the day before we left and we noticed a huge difference in the number of people at the park and the wait times.

I just got back late last night as well and can confirm the crowds were definitely getting thick!! Our last day was at MK on Tuesday and I think because of the rain on Monday everyone and there brother decided to go to MK on Tuesday!! We still had a great morning and just coasted the rest of the afternoon with some shopping and snacks ect. I just had to stay for Wishes one last time. It was busy enough they had the back stage exits open from tomorrow land terrace to the front of the park by parade time. Busy indeed.

Crowds are heavy right now - I was at Hollywood Studios yesterday - arrived about 10:00am and was able to get a fastpass to Toy Story Mania for 3:30pm - this worked great and I hardly had any wait at all when I rode later that day. By 11:00am I think the wait for RRC was 45 minutes, TSM was 120 minutes and TOT was 50 minutes. It got busier after that.

I would start early, use fastpasses for the things you definitely want to do and don't worry about the rest. Also - eat early - by 12:30pm ABC commissary was crazy busy but 12:00pm was doable.

I went to MK the evening before and it was nuts - I got to do one thing - Country Bear Jamboree but it was a fun evening!

We will be there in one week and are already excited. We have never been there in the middle of summer (usually fall or May). How bad are the crowds right now? Is it horrible or just busy?
Packed..

Around the July 4th holiday is one of the most busy times of the year.

So, will the week of the 8th be better or worse than this coming week? We are arriving on the 6th, but are going to DTD/DQ then. Will most of the July 4th people be leaving the weekend after? We always go in the summer, so we're used to the summer crowds.

We will be there on the 8th, I purposly waited that extra week after the 4th. Hoping it was a good plan. But really... who cares, I'll be in Disney World! I have way more patience when I'm there. It's all good.

That's the right attitude!!!

I dont mean to hijack this thread, but Im going to be there July 21-28. What are the chances of parks closing due to being filled to capacity at that time?

Water parks maybe, other parks probably not.

We left Wed (6/27) but went to MK in the a.m. -- very busy. Tues (6/26) night was very full leading up to Wishes at 10pm. Compare to Mon (6/25): from 10-midnight we walked on virtually everything.

In 2010 we were there 6/26-7/3 .... crowds got progressively bigger as we got closer to July 4th. And it was hot!

Hubby and I went last year for our anniversary and MK was the least crowded of all of our trips. It was really weird and we were shocked. It was hot and we did see some Brazilian tour groups, but not a problem with either. It was more crowded this year the Wed. after Memorial Day at MK than last summer. Hope you have the same experience this year.
