Hi all,

Wondering how bad the bugs are in December. Mainly at night. Staying the begining of December and would like to know if tent camping is worth the bugs, TIA.

A lot better than during the summer! Nights much better also, temp wise.

I agree. I would not be able to handle the heat if I were tent camping in the summer. It can be a bit cool in early Dec. Might want a warm hat or scarf and some sweats. Makes it feel like real camping for me!

ooooohhh, i'm glad you asked this question...what are the highs and lows? i know that i could look at a website and tell, but i'd rather hear it from folk who have actually been there at that time. is humidity an issue? or will i have to bring bug spray for mosquitoes? is it a nippy 45 degrees at night or a warm 55? please let me know.

We have spent the last 2 winters in central Florida and near a lake. December and January we are always sitting outside. its the most comfortable time of year to be outside in Florida IMHO.

Bugs! What bugs?

We typically visit the Fort in November (trying December this year) and I'm convinced that the grounds crew bombs with insecticide while I'm asleep, then has speakers in the bushes making bug like noises. I can hear bugs off in the bushes... but I have never seen one!

Seriously... never!

If there are bugs around, they haven't bother me or my family at all. Ahhh, the magic of Disney!:)

Have gone many different times of year and have 'never' had a bug issue! In fact, don't even remember seeing bugs - whatever they do - they have good bug control!

We too are there in November every year.
Usually the week before and the week of Thanksgiving.
Honestly, I don't notice the bugs.
However, stand and wait for a boat on the dock after dark when the lights come on.
It will scare the bejesus you.

Bugs don't have no cash, ::yes::, so Disney wants no part of them, anytime of the year.

Seriously, we have been guests at WDW and FW for 30+ years and never had an issue with bugs. I've been out at 0300 doing my trainings miles and have seen the bug-mobile driving around spraying.

Phenomenal bug control everywhere, especially at the Fort when you would expect something. We bring bug spray and never use it. They do a wonderful job controlling the bugs naturally, there is never a spray bombing.

Even on the water, the only thing you'll see is moths around the lights at night. Disney does a wonderful job. That's the type of Disney magic that you don't realize, but it's there. Fantastic work!
