Automagically. In the old days, they didn't always know but now their reservation systems allow them to see it while you are on the first cruise.

We did the 10 night on the Magic followed by a 5 night and there were less than 15 people doing both cruises. Might be more people doing B2B on cheaper cruises - the 10 night was an expensive one.

How a B2B works at one port or on one ship does not necessarily mean that is how it will be on a future trip. I’ve been on a bunch and they were all a bit different. Pack your patience and you’ll do well.

There were about 45 people doing the same B2B as us. I was surprised that there were so many!
