My Dh and I are thinking about our first trip to WDW and were looking at prices and came across Seattle to Orlando for 357.00 rt/person which is a total of $1787 for 5 of us.

We were going to wait a year and go Feb 2012 but with the exchange rates right now I may be able to sway DH:) Are these good? How much lower do you think I could get them if?

Thanks!

I think those prices are terrific! That is about what we paid for our first trip to WDW in January 2008 to fly from Alberta.

In 2009, Sept. our flights where about $500 pp

This year, in the summer, I had flights to Orlando from Alberta on West Jet's direct flight for 2 people for about $450 each return/ taxes in. That was a good price as I had been pricing many months and never saw it lower than that.
We ended up having to postpone that trip and are now booked for this February.

Flights for February are running about $195 to $226 each way plus taxes from Alberta/ $450-$500 rtn total per person.

I managed to book my son and I a direct flight for $199 plus taxes. For our Returning flights, I used Aeroplan miles for my son's ticket and I paid for my ticket with a 50% off sale on Executive tickets..... since I wasn't paying for my son's ticket, I splurged and purchased us Executive Class as it would most likely be the only chance I would be able to afford to try out First Class! :cloud9:

I think that if you can get a flight for $350 per person total from the West Coast, I would grab it....they only tend to go up from what I have seen!

Thanks for your quick reply. Executive class sounds fun, have a great trip!

Those prices sound reasonably good. Alaska's flight is also non-stop which is great. We did get fares for $199 rtn one year, but that was on AA and we had to change in Dallas.

Keep in mind, though that if your particular flight goes down Alaska will either refund you or deposit the difference in "my wallet". Also, if you haven't already, sign eash member of your family up for the Alaska mileage plan, and you will earn miles for your flights. I think you also have to be signed up to use the my wallet feature.

I usually use Yapta.com to keep track of price changes on my flights. They will email you if the price goes down.

Thanks aristocat65

I'm so worried about booking these fights for some reasons. Also flying to Florida is an overnight flight, any opinions about that?

I've never taken a night flight so I can't say. I've heard others on the board say that they like the night flight because they don't lose a day traveling. I guess the advantage is that you could drive down to SEA on the day (we usually have to stay overnight near the airport to catch a morning flight)

I guess it depends whether you think your family will be able to settle in and rest on an overnight flight.

Great price. We lucked out with $299 last year, but had to pay more this time around for next week. Can't remember exactly what the difference was for this year, but we added in connections to Victoria. Book it before you lose it.

We usually book the direct Alaska flight that leaves at 8:45am.

Our last flight in Sept '09 was the red eye. It left Edmonton at midnight arrived in Toronto around 6 am and then departed again at 10 am for a 1:00 pm arrival time. It was nice to be at WDW before too late in the day.

Our flight to WDW with West Jet in February is the red eye again....it departs at 12:45 am and is a direct flight, arriving in Orlando at 7:45 am in the morning.
5.5 hours of straight flying though the night. I hope we can sleep on the plane, as I don't think our room would be ready for check-in at 9am!!! We will have a bit of jet lag, I am sure, but the happy adrenaline will keep us going, I am sure!!!! :)

That sounds pretty good. We lucked out when we went this September on United. It was $980 Cdn return for the 4 of us. Changed planes in Denver. If you are willing to take a flight that isn't direct like we do, often times you can get it a little lower. But, what I do is I have an amount in my mind of what I am willing to pay, if I see it lower (which I definitely did in this case) I snap it up and be done with it. Oh yeah, the flight was SEA to MCO - no way I would ever fly out of Victoria again , the prices are just outrageous! Enjoy your trip - we're thinking of going in 2012 again too. :thumbsup2

I've been watching fares for Aug for awhile, and that seems about right.
We lucked out in May I got a fare RT incl. tax for $324 CAD on Continental from Seattle for our Jan trip. But I haven't seen anything that low for Aug yet. I've been watching Kayak.com $350-$375 seems the best there is at the moment.
I'm thinking of waiting for SW to come out with their fares for Aug.

That's fine if you have the time to travel to Seattle. Costwise and time wise it isn't worth it this time around.

I have never been to DW, but I have done my fair share of research. It seems that one can get to orlando from seattle in the same length of time it would take (or less) than trying to get there from victoria. While saving a ton of money.

Unless you are talking about flying from victoria to seattle, which techinically is still going from seattle.

The Canadian carriers schedules are a joke - both time wise and price wise.

So I would love to know how you are doing it - The more info I have when we finally get to make 'real' plans, the better.

We love flying SEA-MCO because of price and convenience.

When we went in 2009, we paid $169pp each way on Alaska Air. After using our Alaska Air Mileage points to get 50% off and some discount codes I had, our total return airfare for 4 was $659. Unreal.

The Alaska Air flight from SEA-MCO is non-stop direct. We are there in 5.5 hours without the hassle of switching planes, risk of losing luggage, or waiting around in another airport. Also, if we took a flight from YVR, there is always a stopover somewhere - sometimes more than the 2 hours it takes for us to drive to SEA.

I hope Alaska Air never loses this non-stop direct flight SEA-MCO. Already, I noticed that the flight we like (departure from SEA at 1:30pm) no longer exists. All they have now is the 8:30am and the overnight flight.

We also took the 1:30 flight in 2009. It was great to be able to drive down the same morning and not have to find an overnight hotel like we did with the 8:30 am flights.

It looks like it replaced the overnight flights at the time, and now they've gone back to the night flight. I remember at the time there were a few people on the DIS who LOVED the night flight and were disappointed it was gone.

Sometime the cost of flying from Victoria to Seattle rtn is almost as much as flying SEA - MCO.
