Hello,
Can anyone tell me their opinion on these Excursions on Castaway Cay?
Thanks!
Jetski Excursion Around Castaway Cay

Parasailing Excursion at Castaway Cay

Any other Recommended or Not Recommended Excursions?
Thanks!

I did the waverunner excursion last week and it was AMAZING! :cheer2: My DH said I was just beaming when I got back. :cloud9: It was a very rough day and we were unable to go to the normal sandbar that they visit. Instead, we almost circled the island. The guides said it was as rough as it gets -- normally the water is like glass. I think I'd like it either way. As you can tell, I highly recommend this excursion! :cool1:

A friend and I did the jetski excursion on our 1/16 Wonder trip. The seas were a little rough (ok, more than a little), and it was quite windy. It reminded me of skiing moguls without it being hard on my knees. Fun, but challenging. In the few spots where the water was calm, it was a blast! My friend didn't seem to mind the waves as much as I did - she loved the whole thing. The guides said that usually the water is as calm as glass. If that had been the case, it would have been amazing.

Have fun whatever you decide to do!

I wouldn't recommend the glass bottom boat tour. We didn't see that many fish, and the bottom of the boat was rather dirty.

Anyone ever rent the bikes, if its a cool day, that sounds like fun, is there alot to see?

We have rented bikes and done the parasailing. The bikes are fun and nice exercise, I thought we would be able to ride around more on the island. The only place you can ride that you might not normally walk is down the path past Serenity Beach. It's a nice ride through the jungle and a nice view of the ocean at the end of the path.

The parasailing is nice, better if the seas aren't rough, so that's a hit or miss. But once you get in the air you don't really notice the rough seas, just the passengers in the boat have to endure the bouncing. They take you out on a boat and launch you from the back of the boat. This is a far cry better than launching from a beach or a floating dock like I've done at other places in the past. It's a breathtaking view, and so cool to see the island from up there. It's bigger than you think and so much of it that guests are not allowed to access. It gives you a fabulous perspective.

Can you tell me more about the bike rentals?
Do they have seats for small kids so you can ride them on the back?
Do they have bikes with training wheels?

Is it a concrete path or sandy path?

thanx! :moped:

The banana boats at CC are lots of fun! We really enjoyed doing that last year!

My DD and I did the parasailing excursion on our first cruise in 2003, we really enjoyed it, but I think it is one of those things I would now say, been there, done that.

Now the BBR, that was a BLAST!!! We'll be doing that again.

Yes, they have some bikes with child seats on the back. Yes, they have some bikes with training wheels. Some of the paths are concrete, part of the path is an airplane runway, sort of like an old tar bumpy road, some are packed dirt.

DH and my 3 oldest girls did the parasailing last week - and they LOVED it! DH and DD 9 went tandem and DD's 13 & 11 went tandem. They thought it was great because they got longer up than the single riders. The guy on the boat was very funny too. We also did the biking and DD6 rode by herself on a 2-wheel. They tried to give her training wheels and she told them! It was a nice get away from the other people and it was nice to do something other than walk, eat and suntan!

We also got the snorkeling equiment for the girls and they liked it to - although the oldest got a little freaked out by the jellyfish and that was the end of snorkeling!

Thanks for your replies :flower:
Very informative and I'm glad to hear such good things about these excursions. I hope those with bad experiences might also post, this way we know what to do or not do.....
But I'm Bumping it up for more :thewave:

Parasailing on CC cost $70.00 per person.

I see that the parasailing excursion has a minimum weight requirement. My DD is 8 yrs old, so she passes that test but is below the minumum weight. Will she be allowed to go if I ride tandem with her? Together we're well over the minimum......... WELL over! :earsboy: Anyone know?

As long as you go tandem, I think that will be fine. I've heard of other children around the same age as your DD, but was under the weight limit, and they were allowed to go tandem with an adult.

My DD was 9 last week when we went and she is only 50 lbs. She went tandem with DH. My 13 & 11 yo's are almost the 90 lbs but they went tandem together to make sure they were heavy enough up there.
