We're leaving in a couple of weeks and I'm nervous about the crowds, the humidity and the possibility of hurricanes!!!!

I've been down in both July and August before (as well as spring break and christmas week-those were insane!!!!!). I cannot lie- the crowds and heat can get bad. I found the end of August to be better crowd wise but I am also afraid of crowds on my trip this year because of the free dining, seems like a lot of people are taking advantage of the opportunity. Just be prepared to bring lots of water or buy lots of water. And sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Have a good trip!

1999 Wilderness Lodge (Spring); Fort Wilderness Christmas/New Years
2002 Polynesian
2003 Caribbean Beach

2005 Going to Port Orleans Riverside
2006 Going to Grand Floridian

OMG! We just got back from WDW and this was not our first July. I have never seen it more crowed than it was this year! Magic Kingdom was the worst! If I hadn't already known the park I would have been lost. I could not see the way out! Shoulder to shoulder crowds. However, there seemed to be only two nights (not even EMH) where the MK crowds were not bad at all. It all depends on timing!! Try to avoid MK in the late afternoon. It was the worst then. Also, do the water parks when it is clowdy and some what rainy. No body this year wanted to go then! Oh, and only do Soarin' w/ FP. DO NOT wait over 30 minutes for the ride. I don't know if you have been on it yet at all, but it is an AWESOME ride but not worth over 30 minute wait. The crowds are very big this year and I think it is because of the Happiest Celebration on Earth! The humidity was very high! But to be honest I didn't feel it, I was too excited about being there that I never gave it a second thought. Hurricane Dennis JUST missed us while we were there. We got 10 minutes worth of TOTAL DOWN POUR and then is cleared up like nothing happened. It really cleared out MGM and we got onto RNR 3 times in a row and could have possibly gone on more times, but we chose not to (more of my sister's choise than mine). Even though the crowds were tremendously large and the humidity was high, I had such a great time! So don't feel bad if the crowds are a little bigger than you'd like, you will still have just as good a time as any.

Oh, and one more thought! A few of the days we were there the UV was extreme!! Make sure to bring sunscreen. (I can say with guilt that I did not use sunscreen, I don't burn easy so I figured I didn't need it. I needed it!!)

It would be a good idea to bring the following:

Lots of Water!!!
Sunscreen!!
More water!!!
Cool (as in cool enough to wear in HOT weather) shirts and shorts!!
More Water!!!
But above all- Lots and Lots of Water (You WILL get extremely thirsty!!)

Thank you for sharing and stressing the need to use it. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

Thanks so much for the post - it helps to be prepared.

Would you agree with the philosophy of get up and go early???
