We have a Stay at copper creek coming up in June and we were wondering how the busses are at the Wilderness Lodge? do they share often? In the mornings how bad can it get? Do they share with Fort Wilderness or Contemporary?

The park buses usually go direct to the parks in the morning and share the rest of the day. Depending on park and time of day, the share is either with the Fort, or with Contemporary.

Thats great to know! :) i was worried about it in the mornings or evenings.

Just finished staying there. PP is correct in the mornings they were direct buses. The rest of the day it was the first on and first off the buses for Epcot, HS, and AK. The Epcot bus shared with FW which is a bit longer with the road between the two closed for the time. The others were shared with Contemporary. Never had an issue and found it faster than my stays at BCV and BWV for the busing, though they walk to two parks obviously.

I didn’t do MK bus but I believe that isn’t shared at all. Also there is a bus back and forth to FW in addition to that boat.

Here now. Buses are shared and not great, frankly. We are very much not impressed . WL should have their own bus.
That’s strange I just left and the buses were very well my time there. The mornings no buses were shared. Later in the day the sharing was broken up as I stated above but WL was always the first stop; I love being the first on/off unlike BCV or VGF where buses often come full (as they are during my current stay). I don’t consider it much different than most DVC (or deluxe in general) that share buses (aside from RIV, SSR, OKW, and AKV, but the last three have multiple stops so sort of shared in a way).

We have had to wait 30 plus minutes every time we have taken a bus. We have stayed at kidani, BWV, BCV and SSR so far this year and by far WL has the worst bus wait. Not sure if we are just unlucky. I realize that could be the case. BCV and BWV have the best bus service. They are a bit interchangeable which helps, but even as individual stand alone resorts. Last night 3 beach and yacht buses came as we waited in the line from hell for one lousy bus. There was a little girl in line behind us who was crying the moment she finally got on the bus because she had to go to the bathroom. It is not cool for Disney to make small children wait so long in line and then drop off at 2 stops. Of course she was the second stop at the contemporary. They also do not seem to have anyone working in the bus area who might redirect buses or help organize. The girl’s father was beside himself and very upset by the situation.

It's obviously a very difficult logistics task to keep the busses running like clockwork. I have noticed, usually during peak hours many empty and duplicate busses running on the same route. I think this is an area that Disney can improve on. If 3 busses in a row come to a resort with no one on them they should be able to change the bus even if it is temporarily to accommodate the huge lines and longer wait times. Overall I give them pretty high marks for the transportation. I have my families first stay coming up at my 2nd home resort Copper Creek, so I will get to see how they do pretty soon.

I will say I’ve had completely different experiences than you when there this past week. Must be the luck of the time getting to the stop. Never waited more than 10-15 mins and was easy to get on the bus, very little lines. However, BCV and BWV was a different story at thanksgiving and last night (when the busses arrive full or unexpectedly stop at all the epcot resorts, granted they were last on last off so no stop before the park; whereas, WL is first on first off so stops at FW or CR before going to the parks during off peak). VGF currently has been a larger hassle for getting around with sharing at PVB, but easier in my experience than BCV and BWV.

Good to hear. But I have to admit that it has put us off wilderness lodge and this resort is now last on our list. We were there 8 nights so it wasn’t just a 1 or 2 day issue. This is (was) our first time staying at WL with dvc. About 10 years ago we stayed on the hotel side a few years in a row and loved it. We are at Poly now for 2 nights (dvc side) and have not had to wait for buses at all. We also have not made any GF stops even though the buses say Poly/GF, just direct routes. The only problem with Poly is it is packed. The pool was so crowded today that I am pretty sure there were non Poly guests there. Poly is the only Disney resort where we have seen unusable pools due to crowds every time we have been here. BWV is the only other resort where we have seen non guests in the pool, but still you could move in the pool. I think BCV may be our favorite at this point for buses and pool restrictions.

we usually try to avoid the busses while at WL. We use the boats. If going to Epcot, we use the boat to Contemporary then Monorail.
