It's almost the end of January! Did you all stay on track? Blessings, Sandra

still working on it, I have not lost much but I feel healthier does that count lol

I am not doing so good. :sad2: Last April I believe I weighed 160 :scared1: and decided to try to lose weight, I cut down some of my coffee, and I take ALOT of sugar in my coffee, ate less junk and just tried to eat healthier. It also helped me that for my job at a clinic that I am usually walking for the better part of a 10 hour day. I started roughly April 25th and by our trip to WDW in Aug 17 I had lost 20 lbs. I still wanted to lose another 10 lbs or so. I am also a smoker and wanted to quit before our trip. THAT did not happen but I cut waaay down as I was too busy having fun.

THEN I started college full time and still worked part time. Since I have started school, I have since gained ALL my weight back PLUS another 10 :scared1: :scared1: I am also smoking MORE b/c of the stress and the social aspect of it. Every break at school means a smoke break. :sad2:

I am only 5'1" so to be 170 is not good. The lack of time t hat I have to prepare a proper meal and grabbing take out on the way home so I can just eat quickly and get to my homework as soon as possible is one of the reasons tht I have gained so much weight, and the coffee intake has tripled due to my sometimes all nighters I have pulled doing papers. That and couples with the fact that I only eat once or twice a day has also put the weight back on. I look terrible and feel terrible. And want to change.

The biggest factor for me in losing weight was eating more often during the day. At first I was starving all th e time, but soon got used to it. Now with lack of sleep and class all day wth not much break and running home to do 4 or 5 or more hours of homework is really having a bad effect on my health. And why did I go back to school I am asking myself?? :confused3 I can't remember anymore. :scared:

So I will try to get back on track but may not be likely till I finish this year in April.

Good luck to you all and hope you do well.

Stephanie

Down 5lbs:cool1: I have stopped eating after dinner and eating way less junk. Plus lots of water.

I've started watching THE BIGGEST LOSER on Tuesday nights.

I've lost 16 months in just over a month! I'm motivated again! Sandra

I weighed myself on New Year's day and I was over 150:headache: I guess I had too good of a Christmas break. Anyway, I've been back to my routine - running 3-4 times/week and doing pilates and weight training. I also stopped snacking after 7pm and that's made a big difference. I'm planning to weigh myself this Friday - unfortunately it's my TOM and I'm just craving chocolate  So I guess I'll see what happens at the end of the week.

Congrats Sandra! That's awesome :) Keep up the great work!!!

I like The Biggest Loser and one of my gfs told me to check out Taking it off and also X Weighted.

Cost Co has Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds dvd in a boxed set which comes with three walk tools, I like her 3 mile walk with hand weights. Her website is good also and you can sign up for a free 10 day challenge or even a free 12 week membership.

Have a wonderful (snowy) day everyone!!

Hey sandra....great job. Remember you are worth it...keep it up.
Think about how much better you'll feel in those summer shorts. I keep a summer dress or summer capri's hanging where I can see them in the bedroom to remind myself of how I want to feel.
Jan. 1st I decided to cut , not out, but down on carbs....that is the issue for me for sure. I lost 10 lbs by the 19th ...when we went to disney for 3 nights...I gained 1 pound while there so I know I want to lose another 10 before our march trip.
My shorts from last summer are already too big so that is a big thing for me. I tend to get too focused on the #'s and then have to try things on to see the real difference. Clothes feel better when I lose some weight. I feel better.
I am determined to eat no bread (once or twice a week I will have 1 slice of rye bread with lunch meat and cheese on top for lunch) but no other bread, no potatoes (easy for me I hate them anyhow) and no cereal. I also only have a coffee after dinner time at night ....no snacks.
Going to bed earlier for me is a big thing...Once everyone is in bed and the t.v is on all I want to do is snack. I now go to bed at 10pm and watch the news in bed and go to sleep. I get up every day at 530 for either swimming or the Y so the sleep is good anyhow.
Routine is key for me also.

Everyone is different you just need to be honest with yourself and be committed. Everyone who struggles with weight knows what we need to do it just comes and goes with our lives......that's life right.
Good luck to all with the battles.
Just keep swimming as the movie says:fish:

In my last 2 years of undergrad, I gained 17lbs with the stress and lack of time (brighteyes, I know exactly how you feel!). Anyways, this is my first year of Med school and I learnt a very helpful trick.. LOOK at the SUGAR content in the food that you are eating! :scared1:

It's amazing just how much sugar is in what we eat/drink. If we consume excess sugar, it gets stored directly as fat. So something that is low in fat but high in sugar is actually high in fat in the longrun!!! Juice is a big killer when it comes to sugar. It's much better to eat your sugar (i.e. an apple) then to drink it (think how many apples it takes to make that cup of juice). By simply cutting way down on my juice intake, taking sugar content into consideration and adding exercise I've managed to lose the 17lbs. I still visit Dairy Queen every so often, I still have snacks and treats but I just try to do it in moderation :D

Hi everyone, Im relatively new to the board and planning our first Disney trip for April May, I started on Atkins again on Jan 1st, this time will be a way of life not just a diet, lol! So So far Im down 19 pounds as of this morning! Im so excited and motivated and looking forward to meeting my goal by the time we leave for our trip.
I ve just comt to the conclusion that Im tired of being Fat and Im doing something about it once and for all, I really do think it needs to be a life change and not just a diet!
good luck everyone!

Hi Everyone! I am new too... I started cutting back my calorie intake at the beginning of January and I started going for walks and signed up for dance class. So far I have lost 5lbs :thumbsup2 and on the weekend I am going out to purchase the eliptical trainer I have been saving up for forever because when I go to the gym thats basically what I only use anyway, and in the long run it will be cheaper then a gym membership.

Well my sugar intake has increased ALOT. Just by the extra coffee I drink. I tried cutting the sugar down and I don't like it. So that at least equals 6 spoons of sugar a DAY :surfweb: And I wonder why I have gained my 20 lbs back? Not really, I just have to cut down the coffee  I also only used to drink coffee on the days I worked, now I even make it at home too. At home though I cut the sugar by 1/2.

My friend told me about the low fat stuff containing more sugar. I usually by regular stuff and have less of it.

I think I will try to cut down to one coffee a day and see if that makes a difference.

I will let you know how I do. Wish me luck.

Stephanie

Congrats to all your "getting healthy" folks!

I lost over 80 lbs....went from about 210lbs to in the low 120's. However, in 2003, I started taking anti-anxiety meds, stressed about dd's hospitalizations, and my dad died. I eat my way to over 230lbs.

So now I'm out to lose 100lbs. I know what to do, I just have to stay on track.

Funny things is I lost those 80lbs after a great Sick Kids appt.

In Dec 2007, dd had another great Sick Kids appt, and I've lost 16lbs already.

I think it's related. Stress sucks. Getting Healthy Is Awesome!

 Sorry to hear about all your family's illness and your Dad.

Stress does suck, my blood pressure has been borderline on the high side, and the docs I work with keep telling me to cut my caffeine and quit smoking, which I know I should. Never should have started again after 6 years quit. :confused3

However, the funny thing is since I have been in school full time and cut my hours at the job, my blood pressure it PERFECT. Even with the caffeine up and the smoking up, what does that tell you about my JOB?? HA HA  :lmao: The docs had a good laugh at that one.

I know what you mean Sandra. The year that Matthew spent in sick kids was the year I totally ignored myself and gained about 25lbs.....it's easy to do when you have sick kids and are living at the hospital on tim hortons and burger king.
