How are extra magic hours enforced?

How does Disney enforce the extra magic hours when parks stay open late for disney resort residents?

Do they check for key to the world cards at the rides?

You have to show your resort key to get a wristband and only people with the wristbands can go on the rides

Wristbands are handed out prior to the start of the EMH They are handed out at diffrent locations in the parks. Just look for the lines.

Starting at two hours before the park is regularly scheduled to close , resort guests can go to one of several places in the park. There, you show them your resort key and they give you a plastic wrist band. When you go to a ride, the cast members will check for the wrist band. They will continue to hand out the tags up to 1 hour before the extra hour closing time.

I just did an EMH last week at MGM

They hand out wristbands approx. 2hours before the park officially closes.

You have to show a valid room key to get the wristband

Once the park has closed, riders are checked to see if they have a wristband on before they are allowed to board a ride.

We did see one couple frantically trying to find a place to get wristbands at 7:30pm (when MGM had closed at 7pm)

but I didn't see any wristband being handed out after the park closed.

We did see one couple frantically trying to find a place to get wristbands at 7:30pm (when MGM had closed at 7pm)

but I didn't see any wristband being handed out after the park closed.

They continue to distribute them at the front gate and other locations.
Some locations run out if they are busy, but there are PLENTY available at other locations.

When in doubt, ask GUEST RELATIONS.

"Frantic" is what some people get when they just don't understand the system.

I understand the wristband idea and all is well but im a little concered on the last friday of our trip the MK is having a evening magic hr and we have adrs for chef mickeys at 8pm im wondering well assuming where going to leave the mk at 730pm to get to the contemperary on time. Im really worried we wont be able to get a wristband if your saying 2hrs before the park closes or we will really have to rush thru dinner any ideas to help me and my son enjoy dinner and the emh?

when you head back to the MK they will be checking resort ids at the turnstyles and you will recieve your wristbands there.

Just to clarify, they start handing out the wrist bands 2 hours before the normal closing time(lets say 8:00pm) but will continue to hand them out up to an hour before the extra hours closing(probably around 11:00pm). They should have a station at the MK entrance so you should be fine, no need to rush dinner.
