How are evening flights?

I usually book the first flight available. 6/8AM but for our next trip there is a great rate if we leave Fri. at 6pm instead of Sat. 8 am. It will save about $210 which pays for the extra night at Pop, day of car rental, etc.

Just wondering how are PM flights? Busier, slower. It would be mid May. It would also be nice to wake up Sat. and be at Disney instead of waking up at 3am to get to the airport.

Thanks!

I generally find the airport slower overall on Friday nights, but it may depend on if your airport is a major commuter hub with lots of business people commuting home at the end of the week.

Most evenings are slower in general, in my experience.

Your line at security should be shorter than early morning. These days most flights are full, regardless of the time of day. I think it's a good idea, I travel alot and hate getting up in the middle of the night. I just realized though that I have a 7:45am to Disney next Saturday morning! It's easier to do when you are going on vacation! I'ts Saturday so I don't have to worry about traffic!

Sounds like a good plan. I'm in CT also, what airport are you flying out of. I use White Plains almost exclusively now only 35 min from home, and usually take a 6:30 am Jetblue flight and arrive a little after 9am, and am usually at the resort by 10-10:30.
I agree with you about waking up Sat. morning and being there, and with a 6pm flight you won't be arriving at your resort to to late.

Hope you have a great trip.

My DH and I prefer the late afternoon/evening flights.

We have more time to take care of those last minute things and feel less rushed .I don't know if it's my imagination but I find things slow down and
are more relaxed.
We fly with a better frame of mind. :goodvibes

I always go for first flight out in th emoning (5-7AM) if possible.

Usually less chance of flight delays, etc. which build as the day goes on.

As weather, mechanical, etc delays occur they have a ripple effect and flighits get more and more delayed.

Aslo, in the New York - Philly airports, evening, 5-9PM, is when the international flights to Europe take off for the most part, which means you can be 1-2 hours on the gorund waiting in line to take off.

A lot depends on what airport you are using.

I prefer the red-eye flight. It takes a while to get to Orlando from Seattle so I sleep a little on the plane. I don't waste a day getting to WDW. I figure I get almost as much sleep doing the red-eye as doing an early morning flight but I arrive at WDW much earlier and can enjoy the resort before going to bed.

Depending on the length of your flight the only thing that might not work is DME and the bags.

On the way to Disney, I prefer morning flights. The reason is just as another poster mentioned, as the day goes on, flight delays start to build in most cases and I know I don't want to waste time sitting in my home city on the way to vacation.

On the way back, I prefer afternoon/evening flights because I don't really care what time I get back home and would rather have more time on vacation. So if my flight is delayed (as it was when I as coming home from vacation in September) it's not as big of a deal to me.

We have done it both ways out of Columbus and have found that we LOVE leaving the night before. We have all day to get ready and actually get in early as Friday night seems to be less busy in Orlando as well. Magical Express is good and the there are no lines at the resort, no one checking in or out on a Friday night. THe only thing we have accounted for and made sure we were to the airport early as it is Friday rush hour and we all know, nothing is rushing during that hour except your heart racing to get to the airport. I think if it comes out to be the same price with the hotel the night before, you are ahead in Disney hours as you are there the next morning on Disney property, way way a head in our book!:yay:

I LOVE evening flights.......

However, in their infinite wisdom, all of the airlines have decided that evening flights to Orlando aren't going to happen from our airport.

They also don't believe in early morning flights either. The only direct flight we have is at noon each day.
