How Accurate Are the Disney Wait Time Sites?

I know there are a few sites that display the posted and actual wait times at the different parks throughout the day. I was wondering how accurate you all have found these to be. I would be encouraged to get in a SB line with some of the actual wait times they list, but I would hate to get in it and find that it is actually the posted wait time. For instance, they say a posted wait time at TSM is 60 minutes, but have the actual wait time at 15. I would happily wait 15 minutes, but would rather not wait 60. Any clue how much these can be trusted to a degree?

We use the WDW wait times app and find it to be very accurate. In our experience it was far more accurate than the wait times posted on MDE.

Tested them this weekend and pleasantly surprised at the accuracy. One was Under the Sea posted on MDE and it's Standby sign 30 minutes. Disney Wait Times posted 17 minutes which was a big difference. We hit the timer on entering and was on the clam shell in just under 15 minutes which at that point Disney Wait Times site had dropped down to 13 minutes for folks entering. We entered lines I would not have entered based on Disney times and did more than we expected given the holiday weekend crowds.

I opened it on my iPhone on the internet and created a screen button. It worked like an app. You can download WDW Wait Times on the Google Play Store if that works for you.

That is the one I have been looking at at home. I couldn't believe the actual times were so much lower than what was posted. Good to know, we will use it on our trip next week!

Sum of All Thrills is on the site, but not the app. I can look into it. Either way, there is no posted wait time at the actual queue.

It is still open though. If you look on the website you'll see the status as "operating"

We also found disneywaittimes.com to be more accurate than others when we were at Disney in November. All of the sites seemed to have trouble with assessing wait times until about 30 minutes after official park open though.

Awesome to hear!

What you're describing can best be labeled as a "surge" time. Generally all bets are off during "surge" times such as park open, after parades, and after fireworks. That's when a lot of guests flood the attractions and times cannot be accurately measured, just estimated and guessed.

It's a good idea to note that just before these "surges" is the best time to find short waits. That is, during parades and fireworks.

I used Touring plans WDW Lines over thanksgiving and it was pretty accurate. Ill use it again in August when we go.

It is a pretty simple website. You could just bookmark it in your iPhone browser and put it on your home screen. I have a Windows Phone and I just "pin it to start". Most "apps" are just gathering up web page data and presenting it in a mobile-friendly manner.

Not at the moment due to the high cost of developing a free app.

That said, I made the website "mobile first" so it would look like an app when using it on a phone.

Details would be interesting! (PS not trying to challenge you or anything, really just curious. I think the more wait times sites there are, the better).
