how about Wyndham Palms?

My DH booked there. It sounds great with golf, free breakfast, pool.. But I didn't see much review about this resort. I have a 3years old. I want to know if it's a right place for him.

I booked HIFS because of the review. But HIFS is not offering entertainment rate anymore, it's actually a little more expensive than Wyndham palms. Also WP has a full kitchen.

Two things are bothering me are:

1. WP is a little bit futher to WDW. I want to take my DS back for a nap. I am not sure if WP is a little bit far for doing so..

2. Not sure what kids pool they have there. Any kids things there for my DS to enjoy?

Thanks for any comments.

My family stayed there last August, and loved it. We just stayed in the room, but loved the entire resort.
We didn't try the golf or free breakfast.
It really isn't too far from the parks, 10 minutes or so from the parking lots; less for MGM or Epcot.
The rooms were beautiful, ours had a full kitchen, full size waser/dryer, 2 bed/2 bath, whirlpool tub, big screen TV.
They had some things for kids, but mine didn't go to any of them; stuff like mummy wraps, races, stuff like that.

Here's a link directly to the hotel:

I'm willing to bet Wyndham Palms is maybe 1-2 miles further & not noticable really in distance/time when driving back to the suite, having to leave the park to go to a resort, it wouldnt really matter to me if it takes 10 vs 15 minutes to drive there.

Wyndham Palms has 2 pools (at least when we were there in March '03), one at the back of the resort where the clubhouse/check in area is, which is the main pool, then another that was by buildings 20 & 21, etc, had a mushroom water fall for kids to play at but really nothing more.

We stayed at the Wyndham Palms for two nights last July. The condo was really very nice. Like the other poster said it had a full kitchen, washer and dryer, big screen tv, screened in balcony, and a beautiful bathroom in the master bedroom. The two bedroom/two bath condo was over 1,500 square feet. Our condo was only two months old at the time.

Since we were only there two nights, we didn't use the pools or any of the amenities. The complex was very nice and it was an easy drive to WDW. We were there in a few minutes.

I don't know what price you are getting, but we used hotelkingdom.com and paid $89 per night in July.

Hope this is helpful.

We stayed at Wyndham Palms our last trip and it was a great value. We did not use the pools since it was December, but they did not seem like they were easily accessible from most buildings. You would have to drive over, I think. You child would like the pool at HIFS much better. I think breakfast is only coffee and doughnuts on weekdays, but I may be wrong, we did not do this. The rooms far exceed the HIFS, though. If you need the space and the washer/dryer, oven/stove, it would be a great pick. If you are wanting to spend more time swimming and grabbing snacks at the hotel, I would lean toward HIFS.

I agree with what zaxmom said. And we did have to drive to the pool area.

In addition, breakfast was small box cereals, individually wrapped pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, and milk, and canned fruit (I think)-- nothing fancy, but free.

Thanks everyone for replying.

DH got WP for $85/night, onebedrrom. I am not sure if we should try both WP and HIFS out. We'll go WP first, if everything is fine, we'll stay there for whole time. :yo-yo:

Hi.

We are DVC members and we stayed one night in a 2 bedroom with my parents last fall at WP. We then moved over to Disney's Boardwalk and drove back and forth to be with family from one resort to the other. I would say the drive from Boardwalk back and forth to WP only took about five minutes. This was September so crowds were low - not much traffic.

WP was very nice, very clean, and extremely spacious - my guess on the 2 bedroom would be probably about 1500 to 1600 square feet. There was a big screen tv in the livingroom. They had free bikes, continental breakfast each morning, and the resort is on a golf course.

We will be at Boardwalk again in a few weeks and have family that specifically picked WP again to be close to Epcot/us for family get togethers!

Have fun.

littlestar,

Thanks you!

I heard a lot of good words about WP. I am just a little bit afraid that there is not much for my 3y/o DS to do there. Like pool (I knew they have pool, but noone said if it's nice / fancy enough for kids), fun stuff, etc..

But we might not have much time staying at hotel anyway... I am just worrying too much...

If I remember right about the pools, the main one has a mushroom thing and there is another one that is zero-depth. They do not have a water slide. They have putt putt there and I believe it is free.

It really was an easy drive to Disney. Oh, and we actually had a great breakfast at the BoB Evans near there. My 3 year old was thrilled because they made him a hot dog and fries for breakfast. like he did not get enough of those that week. You will have a great time, and I doubt you will want to move to the HIFS after you check in. Their pool wasn't really all it is cracked up to be. No slide yet.

boboever, where did you get WP Golf for 85 per night? I got the two bedroom for 99 but we have to take the tour. I am wondering if you have to take the tour at that rate otherwise I cannot figure where you got the rate, I check EVERYWHERE and could not find it that cheap. We stayed last year for 10 days and we loved it although the pools were less than impressive but I am not complaining it was only 75 per night including tax for 2 bdrm. We loved it.

Thanks, zaxmom and Bella!

Now I have better idea about WP and feel much comfortable now. I am so regret that I didn't plan my trip earlier. I didn't know that I have so many things to plan and could have much more fun with limited time and money.

Bella, what we got is only one-bedroom. the 2 bedroom one is about $40 more.

boboever, Still I could not find the one bedroom that inexpensively the two bedroom is more than 125 also. When are you going? Perhaps you got an off season rate. I am dreading the tour but it was the only way we could get a decent rate. I have been watching all the discount sites and no hotel that is any good has openings at that price!!!

Bella the Ball 360

try www.wyndham.com. right now they are running weekend & webrates. also www.hotelkingdom.com. -

just checked hotelkingdom & the rates for some dates in May are $115 for the 1 bedroom small 650 sq ft., $161.44 for the 2 bedroom & $207.24 for the 3 bedroom.

then checked the rates on wyndham.com for the same dates & rates of $88 & $92 for 1 bedroom 650 sq ft, $109 & $114 for 1 bedroom deluxe 1050 sq ft., 2 bedroom $135 & $142, 3 bedroom $162 & $169. So - right now you can book directly on wyndham's website for cheaper than hotelkingdom

Doesn't Hotelkingdom have a low rate guarantee? They may give you 10% off Wyndham.com's rate.

Yes, Hotelkingdom has what they call Rate Champion. . We found a rate of 99 per day if we took the tour. We took that rate and figured that 90 minutes out of almost 3 weeks was worth the price. I still do not get it though. For the past 3 or 4 years there were some really great rates at the nicer condos. Now they are fairly high in comparison and few and far between. I do not even know which site my husband got the 99 for 2 bdrm rate. Even though we are not going until July I am getting edgy for next year. I do not want to cut my trip short and I do not want to go back to a hotel even a Disney one. We have been really spoiled.

Wyndham also has the rate matching feature but you need to be very careful using them. We tried to match the 99 per day rate but the way it works is they charge us full price then they research the price and determine if they will match it. If they do not match it you are stuck at full price. It is really not very good business practice. WE got out of our commitment but it was a fight. I do not know how they can do it but just be warned.
