Not only is he smart, responsible and quick thinking, he is extremely well organized. Who would think to call the library to explain a "late book" after everything that has happened to him and his plane in the last couple of weeks. Note the name of the book!

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno library to pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger: You're forgiven.

The US Airways pilot splash-landed his jetliner in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, and everyone on board escaped safely. But left in the cargo hold was a book Sullenberger had checked out from California State University, Fresno, through his local library near Danville.

Library officials say Sullenberger asked for an extension and waiver of overdue fees. The pilot and his spokeswoman didn't return messages seeking comment Monday.

The librarians say they were struck by Sullenberger's sense of responsibility and did him one better: They're waiving all fees, even lost book fees, and placing a template in the replacement book dedicating it to him.

The book's subject? Professional Ethics.

What a great story! Thanks for sharing it with us Dawn. He seems to be a great man.

Nah, he's too clean. The sewers of American politics would only ruin him - he deserves a better fate. :)

I heard about this on the radio this morning :goodvibes

The dj also said if they would release the title of the book, it would be a #1 seller on Amazon :thumbsup2 I bet he would be correct.

I hope he never gets involved in politics. It would ruin who Captain Sullenberger truly is. He's a good guy ::yes::

:thumbsup2

Actually, it's a sad state of affairs when folks equate honor, morality and ethics as too "nice" for a political career.

And I think we're seeing why with all the Obama picks. Sad. Does one have to be crooked and shady to enter a career in politics?

This is the very reason why we need people like him to run for office. We need to clean house of the lot of them and replace congress with ethical men and women. JMO

I don't even know how he is registered (Dem or Rep) but

Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger for President in 2012!

Well that didn't take long

Ladies and gentlemen......start your engines.....let the Obama bashing begin :rolleyes2

Did you read the rest of my post? Hey - I'm not picking 'em - he is.

Great story - if he's paid his taxes, he could have my vote. Democrat or Republican!

He sounds like the type of guy that does the right thing even when nobody is looking. I will bet he is all paid up! :thumbsup2

Beautiful....too bad my former governor didn't feel the same way. He said that if he "knew that people would be listening, he would have used better language" :confused3 (paraphrased).

Thank you for sharing the OP with us. Its a great story. :goodvibes

I love it!!!! Thanks for posting that Dawn!! Capt. Sullenberger is a great person. I really admire that man!!!:)

I personally hope that he continues to be a pilot. I like the idea of such a person being in charge of whatever airplane I might be on.
