me and DH have 3 days left on our hoppers. We will be going to Miami this fall to see a football game ( go dolphins!) anyway, the dolphins schedule has come out, and I am thinking of going to the game on Sun. Oct. 19th. We would go to WDW the week of the 20th to use up those hoppers. we will be going w/o kids for the 1st time, and I am hoping to avoid crowds. Will there be anything going on that would make more crowds this week? I have not bought the tix to the game yet, so I am somewhat flexible, but we will also be going to see the dolphins on Nov. 27th ( thanksgiving) in Dallas, so I really didn't want the dates to be too close together. I would love to hear what you all think of these dates and my plan. Any info is appriciated!!!!TIA!!!!:p

We visited last year Oct 12th thro 26th and apart from a couple of days either side of Columbus day it was not very busy. It is also the time to catch the excellent Halloween party in MK. If you are going w/o kids go to the party later in time for the second parade when the crowds thin considerably.

The Epcot Food & Wine Festival starts Oct. 18 and runs through Nov. 16. I have no idea what that does to attendance at WDW in general, but if this is a trip without kids then that would be an extra reason for DH and me to go for sure! We haven't been to the Festival yet but I hear very good things about it and can't wait till we can try it ourselves.

We love going in October, not as hot, shorter lines, MNSSHP, Epcot Food & Wine Festival. Only reason we're not doing Oct this time is to take advantage of the AP's we got last time.

Oct. is our favorite time to. The weather is perfect, the Food and Wine festival is going on and Halloween is my favorite time of year. We also enjoy Universal's Halloween Horror Nights - Something to consider especially if going with no kids.

I think we will go then, unless we decide to snag the $20.03 rate at CBM for Sept. Does anyone know if this special will be extended to include Oct?. My DH is not sure about the pre-pay w/ no refunds. He is always nervous that our plans may change suddenly! Thanks for the input... I would love to go to the food and wine festival! probably will pass on th MNSSHP, not really my type of thing!
;)

We are planning a 2 week trip in October from the 3rd/4th until the 17th/18th. I *think* I will have 4 park hoppers to use. We just went less than a year ago so this wont be a total Disney vacation. Plus, I will have an almost 3 month old so that will add to it (we will have 4 kids). How is the time frame for waiting? We went in June last year so most rides we waited at least 40 minutes for. The fast pass was good until around 12 when we had to wait at least 3+ hours! Also, how are the park hours? Since we do have 12 full days (1 day flight in and out) we are flexible. Thanks! STeph

PS How do I get one of those countdown things? They are sooo neat!

Is it still warm enough to swim at night in October? We're going the first week...and for us, night swims are a must!

This is hit or miss. We've been a couple of times in late October (don't know if two weeks makes a difference or not). Last year, there were two days my wife wore pants and a windbreaker to the parks. Then there were two days when I got so hot I thought I'd loose it. The first couple of nights we were there, I found it too cold to swim. Well, not too cold to swim, but too cold to get out of the pool, if you know what I mean. The last two nights, it was fine, although still a little on the cold side (low sixties). Try for a resort or hotel with a heated pool. That can make a difference.

October is our favorite time to go! Except for Columbus day it is not crowded at all. We go every October and never stand in a line. There is some kind of golf thing that goes on but don't let anyone scare you off as it has never affected the crowds when we are there. Yes, you can definitely swim in the pools! No only are the pools heated but it is also hot in October. The last 3 years have been in the 80's in mid October. We go in May also but like October much better. :D

Thanks Skiwee1. We went last year during the last week of April into the first week in May and it was wonderful. Going the last week of September into first week of October this year. Part of the "magic" for us is a night-time swim and pina colada! (Sounds especially good as I write this here in New York....middle fo the afternoon...April 7th...and lots of snow falling!!!! Ugh!)

isnt their golf masters then?

The Funai Classic is held this year from Oct. 20-26th. That can affect some of the crowds in the parks, but to a degree its affect is over-stated.

DW and I are planning to be there in late October as well. We loved the Food and Wine festival last year and can't wait to do it again!

You simply must do some of the seminars at the festival. What great opportunities! We met some of the most wonderful people while there, and got to taste some pretty darn good champaign too. I still refuse to eat aligator or croc or whatever weird meat they had at the florida pavilion. Maybe DW will try it and tell me how it tastes? <evil grin>

My only gripe about going in october is that time keeper and COP are closed... bbbwwwaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

skiwee1 - you're alive!!! I hadn't seen any posts from you in a while....

Yes. It has been held the last two years we have been and we have found no crowds at all. No lines either. Except for all the satellite trucks on the golf courses you wouldn't even know they were there. All of the extra people are busy watching the games and they don't finish until later in the evening. By the time they finish MK is closing so they do not affect crowds. I have always heard how they make the parks crowded but that is simply not true. October is the best time to go in terms of weather and crowds.

LOL! Yes I'm here! I guess I've been hanging out on the debate too much instead of the more important stuff! LOL!
