since we've seen some great photos of scenery how about common or not so common plants and animals by your home?
this one is not as common as some, Indigo Bunting at our one feeder( that the raccoons have all but demolished and not the clearest photo since so far they have given me about 2 seconds to get a photo before they take off)

Was at a park and I noticed a few things moving at the corner of my eye and spotted this guy.

i love the composition on the gerbera with the wavy looking background:thumbsup2

Here are a few (some of which I posted elsewhere, but I like them so I am posting them again:thumbsup2 )

First off, some flowers from my yard:

I think these are a type of crocus. They are essentially growing wild in the yard, and are the first flowers up every year.

Next, our plum blossoms

Some apple blossoms

As for fauna, we have Canada Geese EVERYWHERE

Some landing in the river behind our house

And here's one that I saw at the Zoo. It is a wild bird that decided to set up its nest along one of the paths at the Zoo. I was surprised it wasn't very agressive as its nest is literally next to one of the busier pathways.

Here's some I took at my in-laws last weekend.

Here's some I took this afternoon in my garden in the middle of England. They are no where near as good as everyone elses but I'm still trying to learn the settings on my camera!!

My City of Leeds rose (from my home town!)

Some frogs sitting in the shade by my pond.

And one of my fish (although it was nearer the surface and a clearer shot when I went to take the picture!)

Lilacs...definitely common around here in the spring but they're one of my favorites, love the fragrance.

Here's a flower I shot on a nearby lake. I have not idea what type of flower it is...something that grows on the water in big clumps of green stuff.

Here's a flower I shot in the front yard with my camcorder. I think it's a lantana.

My daughter, who lives in Orlando, actually took this at Epcot. It's still her part of the world even though it's Disney!

These shots were taken from my canoe. So for those keeping track of the "crazy" things I do with my gear, you can add "uses his camera in a canoe" to "holds his camera by the body with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens attached" and "uses an obscure brand battery."
