How 2 Big Kids Conquered 'The World' In 6 Days - UPDATED Aug 11 - Conclusion

Just got back from my trip to the world and I have just now caught up to your trip report. Your trip sounds so relaxed after my commando trip. Your pictures are so beautiful and I love how you post so many, they really bring the report to life.

Another installment.....YIPPEE.:dance3: Loved it as usual. sounds like such a nice relaxing trip. I think i'll do that one day. some day. probably not. i'm such a commando. :rolleyes1

Oh I love this installment. Is it October yet??? Can't wait to get there. I hope my pics turn out as good as yours.

When's the next installment? Maybe I shouldn't ask that question :rolleyes1

Great pictures from EPCOT!!!! Looking forward to your next day and I am sure you have some amazing Wishes pictures!

When we last left you, our feet had given out at EPCOT the previous evening.

Upon receiving our wake up call from Stitch … yet again the next morning, Lee’s feet had decided that they were going on strike as soon as they hit the floor. It was then that Lee made the decision to give Crocs a try - as ugly as they are, he had nothing to lose. So off we went to Downtown Disney (yes we know Crocs are available at almost every shop at Disney, including our resort shop, but we just had to get our AP discount at World of Disney :thumbsup2 ).

After arriving at DTD, we made our way to the World of Disney store and headed for the massive display of Crocs. Lee picked a pair – the Pirate Crocs of course - and after paying for them and a few other souvenirs, we were on our way to MGM.

Now MGM is probably our least favorite of the parks, but we still enjoy visiting every trip.

May20-03.jpg

Of course we made sure to get our picture taken in front of the hat (what silly tourists we are!)

May20-05.jpg

Pal Mickey didn’t want to be left out.

May20-04.jpg

One of our missions on this trip was to get as many character photos as we could possibly get, so we decided to start our trek over to the hat and see who was around for photos. Unfortunately there were none out at that point.

May20-b.jpg

We then decided to head over to the Magic of Disney Animation building, stopping to take a few pictures along the way as usual.

May20-06.jpg

May20-07.jpg

On our way, we happened to run into a very special character, who just happened to take quite a fancy to Pal Mickey.

May20-08.jpg

Continuing on our way …

When we finally arrived, we were pleased to see that we would be able to get some character photos …

While we were there, we took the quiz to find out what Disney character we were most like … I’m sure we don’t have to tell you who’s who

May20-15.jpg

By now both of us were starting to get rumbly in our tumbly’s so we decided to be daring and try to find somewhere to eat without an ADR …

Great update! I love your character pics! I am so jealous. I would have loved to get a pic with Sorceror Mickey and the Incredibles not to mention the Robinsons characters!

You guys are living on the edge, dining without an ADR!:rotfl:

After a thorough discussion of what we both were hungry for, we decided to head over to Mama Melrose’s for lunch - without an ADR :scared1:
Yes, we were fully aware that we may not be able to get a table without ADRs however we were optimistic, even after we were passing by the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre and overheard a group being turned away without ADRs.

We arrived, waited in the short line and when we checked in at the desk were told it would be a 5 minute wait … :cool1: We took a seat to wait and within no more than two minutes we were called and escorted to our table.

May20-20.jpg

After a lovely lunch, (Bonny had a Strawberry Colada with the Mozzarella and Tomatoes appetizer, and the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo, while Lee had a Blue Glowtini and the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo) we headed over to the Streets of America.

We then decided to head back over to the hat … we were determined to get more character photos!

Unfortunately luck wasn’t on our side – the characters were just finishing up, so we decided to make an early exit and do some shopping before heading to the Magic Kingdom for EMH and Wishes.

... stay tuned :happytv:

Great update!! I am sorry you didn't get as many pictures with characters as you may have wanted but at least you got one with the Big Cheese himself.

I just found your report and love it. Can't wait to read more. Your pictures are wonderful. We have only a couple more weeks until we get to take on the World ourselves.

Camera question!!

What lens(es) did you use? Also what settings did you have it set on for file size? Large / fine etc etc? What software did you use to do any postprocessing (if any?) The initial photos seemed to be a little more sharp or something then some of the later ones? Could just be me, and I know some of them were photopass ones also.

I've got an 'old' digital rebel (300d) and am considering upgrading to the xti and it appears you gave it a workout :)

2nd question :) What size batteries does Mickey take :)

What lens(es) did you use?
Just the kit lens (18-55 mm) ... I am looking to get an additional lens for our next trip in October, although haven't decided which one yet. ;)

Also what settings did you have it set on for file size? Large / fine etc etc?
As it's been a while since I've used a SLR camera, I shot most of the pics on the automatic setting with the large JPG quality. Want to try and shoot in RAW and JPG next trip :) I did try and shoot some pics in the Program mode, with 1600 ISO, but those were mostly the low light situations.

What software did you use to do any postprocessing (if any?)
Yes I did do some post-processing. This time I used Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, but also have Photoshop CS2. I find that PSP Photo is much easier to use.

The initial photos seemed to be a little more sharp or something then some of the later ones? Could just be me, and I know some of them were photopass ones also.
Good eye :thumbsup2 ... I had more time at the beginning of our TR to do some post-processing and just haven't had time to do it with the later photos. I agree that some of the Photopass pictures were less sharp as well and I didn't bother to process those.

Oh yes ... we took over 2000 pictures this trip :scared1:

What size batteries does Mickey take :)
Pal Mickey takes 3 AA batteries. We were glad we took along our rechargables and our charger and charged the batteries every night as he sure did go through them.

After some shopping and a rest back at the resort, we headed out to the Magic Kingdom for EMH and Wishes.

May20-ev02.jpg

This time we decided to walk over to the Poly from the TTC and take the Monorail from there …

May20-ev06.jpg

Arriving at the MK and making our way through the turnstiles, we headed over to get our EMH bracelets. As we had a bit of time yet before Wishes, we decided to head over to the Judge’s Tent in Toontown to get ourselves some character photos we weren’t able to get earlier in the week …

Here is a funny story about our picture with Snow White. After the picture was taken she turned to Lee and said in reference to Bonny “She’s an apple…you know what to do with her”. Of course Lee had no clue what she meant…was he supposed to check her for worms? Finally it clicked in who he was speaking to and he looked her right in the eyes and said with a completely straight face “Yep…poison her.” Well this poor CM was completely flustered. She just looked absolutely shocked and just stammered for a few seconds and blurted out “NO!”. Then she regained her composure as we both started to laugh and she warned Bonny “You had better watch out for this one”.

Once we were done visiting with the Princesses, we ventured over to Ariel’s Grotto and waited in line to get our picture with Ariel.

May20-ev13.jpg

We then thought we’d grab a quick ride over at Pirates, but when we looked at the time, changed our minds and found a great spot for Wishes on a bench in front of the castle by the Partner’s statue. While we were waiting, we chuckled to ourselves as a couple who arrived in their ECVs, parked them right in the middle of the walkway, then got off them and walked to Cosmic Rays to get some food.

May20-ev14.jpg

Since we didn’t take any pictures of fireworks with our previous cameras, we were looking forward to trying this time - hoping at least some would turn out. We ended up taking something over 200 pictures with probably 75% of them turning out …

Following the fireworks, we made our way to Cosmic Rays for a bite to eat while the regular crowd was thinning out, after which we made use of the EMH to get a few of our favourite rides in. We were a little disappointed that we weren’t able to get a Dole Whip as we passed the Aloha Isle, but Bonny was able to take this picture of the Tiki Room …

Tiki.jpg

By now, it was getting late and since we were getting tired from a long day, we decided to head back to the resort and call it a night. On the positive side of things, Lee’s heels, which were in absolute agony two nights before, were feeling just fine. His butt-ugly-big-rubber-clown-shoes were doing the trick!

… up next … a return to EPCOT and MGM, and entertaining Kungaloosh-fueled evening at the Adventurer’s Club

Great update. You finally got your character pictures:cool1: The pictures of the fireworks are beautiful. I would have been disappointed about the Dole Whip as well:goodvibes

Love the update. Glad to know the clown shoes were comfy.

Your fireworks shots are beautiful.
