We returned from a two week trip to Disney World on March 7th, only to have my SO's power chair stolen from a "secure" building in downtown Seattle last week. I need more pixie dust, and fast!

Has anyone ever had a chair stolen and did you get it back? The police have tape "security" cameras at two different, but related, locations. They see man WALK in, drive the chair out, then drive it into the other location. This chair was paid for by Social Security and it appears they will get him a replacement, but in the meantime this has been devastating. My SO not only has physical disabilities, but cognitive disabilities and a variety of mental health issues as well. We had a great time in Disney World and almost forgot how the "real world" is. Hugs, I need some hugs!! :grouphug: Thanks.

It is not just the loss of the ECV, having it stolen is an violation of your SO's personal space. I hope the replacement is swift.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. We are hopeful that, between the two locations, someone will be able to identify the thief. These locations are fairly secure and, because the thief was in BOTH, it is suspected he is a client of services offered at these facilities.

Added 4/11/2009 The thief nor the chair has yet been recovered. However, the local Crime Stoppers aired a segment and a couple from a nearby town contacted them and offered to GIVE us a chair. It had been one of their mother's who had passed on. While it is an older model, it is the equivalent and a used car "only driven by a little old lady" and looks brand new. There are some truly exceptional people out there.
